Day 1 League of Madness Wrap-Up

Day 1 League of Madness(March Madness Style Tournament)

Day one wrapped up with quite a few huge surprised. These results directly correlate toe the previously posted bracket and the NCAA basketball games played. Winners were determined by whoever won in the actual NCAA tournament. I hope you enjoy the game summaries below. The bracket can be found on the link.

• #1 ROX Tigers (3-0) vs. #16 CNB e Sports Club (0-3) – As expected the powerful team hailing from the most dominatnt region in all LoL competitions dumpstered the poor team hailing from CBLoL. This match was over before it began but it seemed fun was had by all.

• #8 Afreeca Freecs (2-3) vs # 9 Dignitas (3-2) – After Dig threw two games with poor Baron calls Afreeca’s jungler Lira channeled his inner Saintviciuos and couldn’t steal a single Baron leading to the reverse sweep surprising to many. Dignitas will need a lot of luck next game in order to dethrone ROX. This game once again ended with a flurry of TSM chants.

• # 3 H2K (3-1) vs. #14 Milennium (1-3) – H2 What? H2K showed up and besides the game where they decided to go Brand/Annie bot lane were in control of this series. FORG1VEN needs to stay away from mages, watching him auto attack on Annie was painful.

• #6 OMG (1-3) vs #11 ROCCAT (3-1) – One of the upsets of the day. Jankos was back to being the first blood king and with Freddy was allowed to play tanks top lane. That and once again a Chinese team forgot to take practice seriously and got caught off guard on the big stage… Looking at you 2015 LGD. Oh ya and EU lane swaps.

• #5 Snake Esports (2-3) vs. #12 (eXtreme Games) – Snake forgot that this wasn’t team death match and forgot to take objectives and lost to consistently better strategy. Another great upset. Thought of as one of the better teams in the LPL it looks like they also have a little too much LGD hubris in them.

• #4 Royal Never Give Up (3-1) vs. #13 Kongdoo Monster (1-3) – RNG taking their lumps from IEM showed up to beat out the bottom team from the LCK. They were down in sever games but won by never giving up…

• #1 Jin Air Green Wings (3-0) vs. #16 g3neratino X – LCK vs. CBLoL should be crime after this game. Jin Air would toy with them until about half way through the game then turn it on and turn it up and crush them.

• #8 Liquid (2-3) vs. #9 Elements (3-2) – STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE… that and unfortunately IWDominate came out of streamer retirement with QTpie ro replace Piglet and Dardoch so he could finally play internationally. His lee sin was not as clean. Dyrus was lonely for a day on stream.

• #5 TSM (3-1) vs. #12 Team Liquid Academy (1-3) – There is a reason that one is a challenger team. An unbanned Sven was excited to make some noise internationally and was able to get Bjerg and Hauntzer far ahead. TSM TSM TSM was once again heard throughout the stadium. Unfortunately for them they are against a Samsung Galaxy that looks hot right now next game.

• #4 Samsung Galaxy (3-0) vs. #13 Keyd Stars (0-3) – Ouch. I don’t know who seeded Samsung where they are but it was an unfortunate day for CBLoL’s greatest hope.

• #1 AHQ e-sports (3-0) vs. #16 Red Canids (0-3) – Ever have a day where you forget to ban fizz. Ya so did they and Westdoor just looked silly three games in a row. The poor CBLoL has had some tough draws.

• #8 NRG esports (1-3) vs. #9 Splyce (3-1) – Trashy and Sencux looked once again like they did in challenger last year… unstoppable. Shaq and A-rod were caught off guard and are considering investing in EULCS instead now.

• #5 Edward Gaming (2-3) vs. SBENU SONICBOOM (3-2) – This was the upset of the day! In a ninety minute game with over 130,000 gold the last place Korean team came out to shut down another LPL team. It looks like the LPL may be the weakest region at this years tournament which is quite the shocker. Froggen’s recently claimed CS world record was shattered by Nuclear with 1007 CS total.

• #4 CJ Entus (3-0) vs. #13 INTZ (0-3) – Another expected results LCK vs. CBLoL.

• #3 Vitality (3-1) vs. #14 Copenhagen Wolves (1-3) – The only game dropped was when Cabo, despite the pleading of his teammates, locked in Warwick. He was quoted after the game as saying, “I wanted to bring back swag lord feed to win strat from my favorite former player.” I guess the game has evolved.

• #6 Team World Elite (2-3) vs. #11 LGD Gaming (3-2) – This marks the first win for an LPL team in the tournament… I mean it’s also a loss but could LGD be righting their wrongs from last year?!
