Want to know why NA never does well at worlds?

They play their entire regional season trying to emulate KR. Once they prove who is the best emulator, they forgot to be innovative and are sooo complacent with their game play they're not trying to Counter the META instead they are trying to be the best at it.

Team WE made a good example of this but playing hard and fast vs a slow and scale game. They crushed it. Teams that adapt and understand that there are other ways to win games other than trying to beat teams at their own style (META) win and do it well. The exception would be SKT and LZU who created the META and are at the top of performance in it. You'll never beat them at the META game, you need to innovate and adapt to beat them.

At least there are teams like GAM MFT and WE that are entertaining to watch. TSM has always been the most boring NA team to watch and the only reason they do well in our region is that they WAIT for the enemy to make a mistake and punish. In world's, teams are too good to wait on them t make mistakes, you need to outplay.

Give me a coaching job. I'll win you world's in one season.

In short "Copy paste" what Korea does 24/7

Skt maybe but i wouldnt consider lzu to be meta riders, khan is their star player and they never want him to play tanks, the closest they'll go is jarvan

That's not true

The thing is, TSM tends to play the games in NA with the idea that they are the best laners. That normally works, only a few laners in NA are better or can match them. At worlds, none of the TSM players can "outperform" their opponent to the point that you can confidently say they can carry.

Haunt was doing fine in a few match up but ended up under performing in match he should have won. In the lane he was expected to lose, he lost badly

To the comments below... Yes, I singled out TSM in my post but that is only because they were the #1 seed from NA and did probably the worst (pending C9 games tonight). This isn't about TSM, it is more about NA as a region, the coaches and the mentality of the players.

I would almost always want to see a team like GAM or FlyQuest (earlier edition, not recent) than TSM or IMT at worlds. C9 has a bit more variance to their play and likely why they always seem to go the furthest, even from the early roster to now. What GAM and FLY lack in mechanics (although a couple of the players, like Levi at exceptions) they make up for in strategy and tactics. If you have a highly mechanical team like TSM and pair them with the mentality of FLY for instance, they would be CRUSHING opponents. Instead you have the META slave bullshit that you witnessed this tournament. Complacency is a players worst enemy and that's what NA as a region tends to be, NA Belly, soft.

It's worse than that. It's not just Meta Slave and attempts to clone SKT that's the NA Team's problem. Apparently, NA has completely lost any ability to not only innovate and adapt, they've also all lost the ability to realize that their strategy has been completely figured out. TSM Just kept banging their heads over and over again into the same pick and ban saying "But...but...this has to work...it's the meta!"

For me, the big thing is that they're choosing to ignore the shifts in the meta going into worlds and just assume that they can play the same meta stuff from the patches before it. While sej is kinda meta, cho has fallen off massively (from what I can understand it's only been seen 4 times from non-NA teams with 3 of those being losses) and ryze requires a faker-level skillcap to make work in any sort of teamcomps. While that wasn't the sole cause of the IMT/TSM falls (I blame both of them for not playing at all around the early game and hoping 50-50 barons/lategame teamfights will remove 5-10k gold deficits), it did play a major factor into it as they looked extremely out of place.
