I think it's less about accountability and more about the name/shame rule. Accountability is a side effect. I'll bump your post so hopefully you get an answer. And just in case you want my advice, just quote what you want while being respectful. You won't get banned for it without a warning.

Thanks! Accountability was a bad way of phrasing it. It's not my intention to police people on what they have said. However, if you look across threads you might find a pattern or context which helps to frame a certain comment or opinion (either in a positive or negative way). 'Interconnectivity' might have been the better word.

That's what I don't completely understand. I know that cross thread discussions often focus less on the argument and more on the people behind the argument, hence probably why it is frowned upon (not to mention that a thread can get hijacked by this). From another perspective however it seems like a way to promote a lack of accountability for what people say here.

I get it, getting called out on something you said in another thread, with maybe another mindset at that time, might feel like shit if it is done ina negative way. However artificially containing arguments or comments to a thread per thread basis feels, in a way, unnatural to me.

Which is why I'd welcome some additional info on what I would consider a grey area here.
