POLL: should people be able to downvote?

AgeOfTheMage··2 votes·315 views

Sure, I get the point of downvoting stuff such as people who are toxic requesting an unban, or people cussing out league/riot, but so many well made posts never get seen because they are downvoted. I used to have the habit where if a post had negative votes i'd downvoted it and keep scrolling, not even looking at the text inside. I've stopped doing that of course but it still feels like people do that.

Um, yes. If your post is irrelevant or not well thought out a downvote is a nice neutral way of saying "sorry, try again". I tend to look at downvoted posts because I find them interesting.

mmhm, I don't know, just for some posts, I see how well written and thought out they are get multiple downvotes, but little to no comments. I understand downvoting to disagree, but at least leave some form of feedback!

Oh I only downvote if I already replied to their comment/board. I don't just downvote without a reason. I however will upvote without posting if I think the post/comment is well thought out or helpful.

Yeah! people need more of a mentality like yours! the boards are about discussion! if people just mindlessly voted after just skimming a page and not even saying why they voted the way they did there'd be no point in posting! on all of my posts I'd rather get comments instead of upvotes!

No it's not. It doesn't provide feedback. People will just get frustrated, and it also prevents other people from viewing the topic with a fresh mind. The bandwagon effect is real.
