Comment removed for personal details?

So i basically said my name and that a played tennis and i receive a notification that it was removed because it was "unwise" not because it violated a rule or code or anything like that, but it was "unwise" are they allowed to remove stuff they think makes them uncomfortable? and dont have to follow the rules or are they allowed to have the freedom to do whatever they want?

also this has always puzzles me, what is wrong with submitted little bits of your details? its dangerous? so why is it not dangerous for streamers? but someone may come after me? how is posting my details going to make someone spontaneously want to come after me? surely if they want to find me they can do so anyways?

Hey.

The reason your comments were deleted was due to harassment. You were in an argument, and were insulting another poster, so I intervened. While you were insulting the other poster, you revealed personal information to the person you were harassing, which is an extremely unwise thing to do. So, since your comments needed to be deleted anyway, I felt obligated to offer my advice in the matter.

In general it's wise to never reveal any personal information over the Internet, yours or others. It can be used against you in some nasty ways and no one wants that. Wouldn't it suck to have your identity stolen because of a post on the boards?

Personal anecdote time!

Once, a few years back, I got a Boards ban in large part for not redacting my email in a picture I posted. Now I'd posted my email before, I like having the occasional pen pal, but in this particular situation I was in the middle of an incident with another board goer. It was suspected they might use that email as an attempt to harass me. So my post was removed. Sure enough I did receive several harassing emails. And not just from the person I was having a bit of a tiff with. Now in the end it all worked out ok, nothing harmed me or my life, I got a couple weird emails from some weird people and engaged in some back and forth with them via email. Eventually we wound up pretty friendly with one another because of it.

But it didn't start out for that purpose, and the right call was made to try to protect me against my own foolishness.

Always redact personal information when you post to the boards for your own safety and that of others.
