so they know why you're upvoting/downvoting also so you don't blindly downvote/upvote because of the person/title and have to read. Plus it'd be nice to know why people are upvoting/downvoting.
Requiring a comment is just requiring spam. How many "^", or "yup", or "lol", or "git gud", or "stay salty" comments would be said just so they could vote? You'd replace one form of vague feedback with a much more obnoxious and bulky form of vague feedback.

Remove downvoting. It's toxic and it only serves to cancel out other people's upvotes and get people to hate your thread by downvoting when it's on 1 vote.
