Mod Abuse is Out of Control

Hear me out.

My premise is that the boards/mods in general are overly sensitive, and prone to censor anyone that is even remotely critical (or as they so loosely define as "toxic"). So over time anyone not conforming to their G-rated boards get banned/censored and move to reddit, where the process repeats. You are welcome to disagree, the problem is other people aren't because they will get censored because I am right.

I would also argue that given this state, the only people bothering to post are either so sensitive they like the censorship, or the typical aspiring mods posting the usual boring, corporate, lawyer speak and linking the summoners code in every post. (yawn)

So its 2019 and anyone wasting time on the boards is likely in those categories.

I was recently suspended for referring to the Chinese Communist Party as "Chi-Com" for short. A moderator said that was a racial slur and I was guilty of "racial hatred". I'm not sure if the mods are that clueless, or if they are SJWs drooling for a chance to claim someone is a victim, but this is just stupid.

Can we please get some accountability on the forum censorship. I'm sure this thread will be downvoted by the overly-sensitive low-T posters that remain here, but if I haven't made it clear enough... I don't care about your downvotes, because I have seen what you upvote.

REST IN PEACE, RIOT FORUMS.

I am the moderator who referred to your use of "chicom" as a racial slur. If it isn't a racial slur, it's a highly politicized and unfriendly term for the Communist Chinese. I'm sorry you feel you've had a poor experience with my moderation, but it's not okay either way.

I'm happy to have the conversation with you about whether or not this is abuse. You always have the right to ask for review on your cases. Indeed you can come to our Discord and ask for me to be fired if the spirit moves you; but I guarantee you "chicom" is not acceptable either way - if it isn't classified as a racial slur it's going to be classified under Inappropriate Discussion Topics as it refers to real-world politics.

Real-world political discussions are barred on these Boards, not because we want our users to be apolitical, but because it's not the right venue for real-world political discussion. Such political threads devolve into terrible flame wars with regularity here and spark dozens of reports, making our job near-impossible - it is the current position of the modteam that they are a distraction from the discussion of League and Runeterra at best, dangerous and likely to incite hatred at worst.

There are plenty of places you can vent your frustrations with Chinese politics on the Internet. This isn't one of them, and you also cannot just go blaming China for everything you find wrong with League these days. It seems to be very popular to blame Tencent because League isn't like old League - but the truth is that Tencent has been involved with League since Season 1 or before, as best I understand the real history of this game.

We're always willing to have the discussion with you, if you're going to have the discussion in respect. We're always willing to do better as Moderators as well. I'm sorry you feel you've had a poor experience, but this "wear downvotes like a badge of honor" attitude is not going to serve you well.

Being part of the community here means trying your best to be a part of the community in kindness and respect.

Hey,

Can you access your removal messages? You were banned on the 8th for making a political/social post about Tianamen square. It was your 8 removals in 10 days, and given your history, a 3 day suspension was applied to your account. My name is at the bottom of the removal message.

Edit. ~~Feel free to inquire about your other removals here, as I will he removing your other post, mostly due to it being blatantly inaccurate. ~~

Edit2: I’ve looked into your other discussion about another mods’ removal, and I’ll get back to you about that when I can.

Last edit: so it seems Cali was explaining to you that you were using a disparaging term, chicoms. This was present in the political social post, but your history of recent removals and history of prior suspensions warranted a 3 day suspension.

Frankly, why should the mods care what you think? You seem to stand for the permission to act like an asshole without accountability just because you're unwilling to remain civil in a discussion.

I don't see a reason that mods (or Riot) should give a shit about that opinion. Discussions are more constructive when both sides don't devolve into insults being thrown around.

I have changed "racial slur" to "derogatory political term" in the message that offended you so, Kanyoupipu. Is that better?

Please let's be honest here - it's not a nice word. I wince every time I see it, because it is one of those terms that just has an ugly, racially tinged history and derogatory overtones no matter where it seems to show up. It has never been a nice word, not since it was invented by Western forces in the Vietnam War to refer to war supplies provided to the North Vietnamese by China, and the Chinese providers of the same. I have never once seen "chicom" used in a non-derogatory sense.

But we can call it a derogatory political term instead of an outright racial slur if you like.

It's not okay on the Boards either way, and your removal was a justified one.

Let me emphasize: My disrespect for anyone posting here is so high that I wear downvotes like a badge of honor. If you upvoted me I would be actually worried and concerned. (given the state of the boards)

Idk... I was just a middle of a conversation and the thread got straight deleted... no idea why. At the very least they could have locked it and left a comment with their reasons. If you remove stuff without a trace people will assume it's power abuse, rightfully so.
