Applications: CLOSED

Hey, you! Do you possess a certain set of skills that you feel would be beneficial to the Boards?

With the year coming to a close, we want to ensure that we have the capacity to keep up with moderating the Boards into the new year, while also allowing players to contribute to the Boards community in a different way. With that being said, we're re-opening applications for Boards Moderators here on the League of Legends North American Boards.

The deadline for applications will be at 11:59PM PST on Friday, December 14, 2018. Applicants who pass the initial application screening will continue with phase 2, which will include a short round-table voice or chat interview with other folks in the Moderation Team. We will be selecting qualified candidates who possess all or most of the following attributes we are looking for.

Moderator Application (CLOSED)

  • History of frequent engagement and currently active on the Boards
  • Does not have an excessive history of breaking the Universal Rules or in-game punishments
  • Open to taking constructive direction in moderation and working collaboratively with Riot and other volunteers
  • Thick-skinned and the ability to detach personal feelings from moderation activities (stay calm and diplomatic in any situation)

Moderator Expectations

  • Be active in the community and facilitate discussions
  • Keeping the sub-board clean per Universal Rules
  • Be fair and distance from favoritism
  • Escalate discussions or comments as needed to Riot
  • Be the voice of the community and share those concerns to Riot

Moderator Privileges

  • Name color, Moderator title, and icon on the Boards
  • Visibility to reported content
  • Delete discussion and comments
  • Disable commenting in a discussion
  • Pin a comment
  • Sticky discussions

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this thread or reach out on the NA Boards Discord.

To make it easier to plan out your responses, here is a copy of the questionnaire portion of the application:

  1. Why are you interested in this position?
  1. What would you do to foster the Boards community?
  2. What sub-boards do you frequent the most?
  3. How did you come about the Boards? Are you currently active?
  4. Is there anything you would do differently in moderation where you feel current moderation is coming short?
  5. What kind of challenges do you forsee if you were selected as a Moderator?
  6. Do you have any current or past experience in moderation or forum communities?
  7. Anything else you'd like to share?

Good luck!

Need to teach the current board mods this shit. Especially the favoritism.

Without naming names there is a certain Singed person who gets away with shit all of the time. Including but not limited to, harassment, trolling, spamming, rank shaming, etc.

You guys are so biased and unfair who would want to do this?

Have you tried paying your employees?

I guess getting sued for unfair pay Riot realized that equal pay for all is a reality, simply don't pay people.

This should not be presented as Privileges, it is what moderators must do only at appropriate situation. It is not what they can use as they wish. I believe this should be moved to requirements with some context to these functions.

We already provide free labor in the form of continuous data mining for Riot, as the hours of playing are analyzed by a number of sources to help determine how to make the game better and Riot more moneys! We are cogs in the machine!!!!!!!!!!!

If you guys ever adopt a "Fuck it, burn the forest down" approach, my bourbon and I will be here in a heartbeat. You know how to reach me.

Let me guess, requirement number one is that you agree with anything and everything Riot does no matter how terrible it is for the game? The boys at Riot could use some refreshers on ethics, morals and the concept of 'Group Think'.

What would be the time/presence requirements if one were to be come a moderator? Would one have to diversify ones sub-boards of interest? Ie. I don't follow competitive play closely but would love to be more involved in the gameplay and community side of the boards. That being said I enjoy reading about all aspects of the game and I wouldn't mind reading through posts on any board keeping an eye out for misbeviour or breaking of the Universal Rules. :)

I've actually considered this when the first moderator post was made, but I knew I wouldn't be able to since I'm not very active on the boards so it kind of kills any chance I would have. GL to everyone applying! [slayer-jinx-wink]

If I felt like I could set enough time aside to do this I would, but I am well too aware that I don't have the kind of time to do this.

OtakuBurrito11/28/2018, 2:57:48 PM1 votes

I want to apply as mod as I've cleaned up my act a lot and I usually get honored in game a lot for being tilt proof.

But I'm just afraid that my past (3 years ago) on boards may ruin my chances. Should I still apply?

Also, I like to meme so are Memers allowed?

Does applying later hurt my chances at all? I want to think about if I'm really fit for the position before I actually apply because I don't want to be made moderator and just say "huh.. I didn't think I'd get this far." As cool as it'd be, I don't want to waste anyone's time.

CheeZForReal11/29/2018, 7:31:48 PM1 votes

Do I have to meet all requirements? I'm not active on the boards but I have past experience being a moderator on some fourms and servers for other games. I'm capable of keeping my head straight when it comes to heated arguments and working with other people to moderate fourms and what not.

Would you consider new players for the role of Moderator that do have past experience with Forum Moderation -- or your specifically looking for veteran players?

I forgot to post my username on boards (even though I submitted my discord username, which is only off by the fact that it adds the accent to the e in Pokémon).

Do I have to resubmit my entire application, or can I talk to someone to have what's already been submitted edited? (I don't use Google Forms often)
