Why it feels like Riot doesnt talk to us.
Dev corner is nice, it allows Riot to notify us of upcoming changes and their reasoning behind them. Quick Gameplay Thoughts or posts like recent Champion Weaknesses in 2019 are a great way for us to learn what goes inside Rioters heads. There is however a massive issue with this kind of system, where Riot has it's own announcement board where all the discussion is happening.
That discussion happens on Riot's "turf".
Let's roll back a bit and take a look at Red Tracker, a useful tool for people who don't feel like engaging with the community and skip straight to what Riot is saying.
We can see that Riot posts mostly in places where the discussion revolves around bugs, lore, or occasionally something related to bans that players receive. There are also big streams of posts whenever new QGT are up. What's worrying however, is lack of Riot's engagement in Gameplay board.
Do you know when was the last time Riot answered our gameplay related question that was asked NOT under posts made by Riot/Boards moderation? Over a month ago. At it wasn't even something important, just some Kayn's R issue which was most likely just a bug. Anything between then a now was urf tier list (which was an opinion piece) and fluff post answered by Berzerka (although he/she only responds to fluff/feel good posts so no surprise there).
What are you doing Riot?
Dev corner isn't a good way to "communicate" with the community. It's an announcement board, as I explain it earlier. You make the post and it's the community that has to go out of their way to ask questions in a place where you have complete control (Yes, I know, entire boards are under Riot's control, that wasn't my point). You make the thread about topic you want to talk about. You answer only the questions you want to answer to. Same with things like recent ama with heimer mains. This isn't a post made by an actual main of that champion, it's a glorified interview moderated by boards staff.
Riot never comes to US. They don't answer questions WE ask, nor reply to worries WE have.
People don't feel good when they're forced to ask questions in the sea of replies under a dev corner post. But they have no other choice, because making a post on Gameplay will just fall on deaf ears.
What's the point of wanting to communicate with your playerbase when only place you agree to use as a communication tool is your private announcement board where only you can start posts.
This entire thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
