Ok, fine. We won't use it.

Link the thread you think we're trying to resurect. "Necromancy" or not, you're just being a hindrance unless you at least do us that one solid. Otherwise, it's just power flaunting.

So the thing about necroing dead posts is this: Depending on how long it takes us to notice a post is brought back to life, we might leave it or lock it again. We won't delete posts unless they're inappropriate and the reason we lock is because even though the conversation is done and old, it might still prove useful to someone somewhere down the line, plus when we delete something, we need to give the user reasons for the deletion. Since the posts don't violate any rules, we have no right to delete them.

If it's one post and it's off the front page by the time we catch it, there's no reason to lock it and then post about locking it so that it gets bumped back to the top, as that's counter-intuitive. If it's already close to the top, we'll make sure to lock and post about it. Does that make sense?

Kinda. I still want to know why a thread that recreates the ideas of another recent thread gets locked or deleted even if recreated on accident.

If it's another recent thread, it might be getting deleted due to being exactly what you said. A re-post. Generally speaking, (usually) people don't want multiples of the same thread talking about the same issue after one has already taken off. Posting the same thing an hour later when the front page has the same thing with 4 pages of discussion and 20 upvotes already only splits the discussion and clutters the forums.

I get that. I just think if it barely crosses the line (fails the guideline of what is a repost and what isn't by about a day) and is clearly not intended to be an attempt to flood the boards, there should be some guidance with the deletion. Lead them to the live discussion and boom, that's a repost removed and a satisfied customer.

I'm not sure what you're asking or what the problem is.

If a post of yours got removed but the thread remains, the removal message should allow you to click on the removed comment to go to the thread it was removed from.

If the thread gets locked you can still see the thread and the pinned message giving the reason behind the lock.

I didn't do anything, but I have seen threads locked just because someone else beat them to the punch 27 days prior, time and time again. The thread gets locked (not deleted, so it still takes up space in the thread list anyway), so now nobody else can contribute to the conversation anymore, plus the OP's questions/concerns/whatever still aren't answered.

Someone has to stand up for the little guy, and it sure as hell not gonna be Riot or its army of mods.

If a thread is closed for getting necro'ed it has been such a long time since the thread was active that anybody previously part of the discussion has decided to no longer be part of it.

It's not an active discussion if months (or years) go by between comments. The thread is dead at that point. Someone dredging up a thread they googled up and didn't bother to look (or care) about the last post date is effectively talking with themselves. They should just create a fresh thread at that point if they want to start a new discussion.

I'm still at a loss what you actually want.

You ask the mods to, "Link the thread you think we're trying to resurect". Where do you want them to put this link and/or whom do you want them to send it to? A locked thread still exists and everyone can see for what reason it got locked including the person that made the necro.

Sometimes they lock, sometimes they are deleted. Probably depends on the mod.

And I already explained it. You keep on going off on further tangents. If a thread gets closed you obviously don't need to have a link to the thread. It's gone. And I doubt your claim that mods are deleting thread when they are necro'ed. They remove the comment and lock the thread at most, pushing it back to where it was on the history.

If a thread is locked due to it being a dead thread brought back and it takes effort for you to find the thread in your history, your discussion in the thread was as dead as the thread itself.

All I see is someone floundering for a reason to dislike the mods.

If a thread is closed because it was a duplicate to a popular topic that already had an active discussion, I would expect people to be intelligent enough to look at the front page to see it.
