Moderators commenting on a topic

every time i see a topic with that Green Star (meaning a mod commented there) i get curious as to what they say only for it to say "i've removed (such and such) from this topic as it breaks (this rule). if you have questions feel free to ask" they never actually give feedback on the topic and only erase some of the message. if mods truly do care they'd actually comment on the boards instead of just doing their job by removing (such and such). is it too hard for them to act as normal people instead of the police or a bot? is it too hard for them to give feedback on the topic itself, positive or negative?

When you see the star icon, that means a comment has been pinned. Pinned comments are usually only for official moderation messages or warnings, such as letting people know if there has been a moderator edit to the post (removing names or insults).

We comment on lots of threads. You'll usually find me hanging around GD cause that's been my community home for years. Others frequent PB and Gameplay. I know we have a few Archivists that hang around C&C and SA&S. Just keep your eyes peeled and you'll find us =)

But like Avantel, the star means we pinned something and that's gonna be a "we locked this" or "we did some mass edits, everyone behave!" or "OP we edited your post", that sort of stuff. Usually we'll pin the primary answer to a thread in Discuss the Boards as well. Since we're just players and posters like you, it wouldn't be right to mark our posts as special like Rioters unless it was something as part of our official mod duties.

As others have said, pinned posts are for official moderator actions, which we like to keep separate from our own input where possible, as otherwise it could be considered misuse of power to make our own input appear more valuable. We may -- and often do -- comment in those threads when we have personal thoughts to share, but those posts will not be pinned.
