I honestly don't even understand what the 'Recent' even means tbh. I think they should just replace it with a tab that's more controverisal and has lots of comments but not too many upvotes that way people can still see them.
Recent means the latest post, including comments. Meaning if you have a thread that is 5 hours old but someone just commented on it 10 seconds ago, it will likely be the most recent thing still.
New means the latest thread. This does NOT include comments.
Hot is the posts receiving the most attention currently. So if for example a thread received 20 upvotes in the last 30 mins, it would be considered hot. A thread that recieved 200 upvotes but most of them were a day or two ago would not be considered nearly as hot.
Best is the threads that have received the most upvotes and comments on the particular sub-board ever. So if a post has 1000 upvotes, it might not matter that the post is a year old, it may still be on the best page.
