"Hot" Thread sorting

I was under the impression that "Hot" used votes (along with other criteria) to determine the sorting.

With the removal of votes on the threads themselves, what is going to happen to the "Hot" sort (for the sub-boards that it existed in) now that all threads will effectively be at "1"?

Is it going to be removed? Or is the criteria going to change for the sort to function?
