Can you stop removing my post? Pretty please? :) Actually, Let's try to understand each other first
In all my one year of playing this game and I think half a year of being on boards.** I've never gotten a violation until yesterday and today**. From a moderator by the name of "Jikker." Hi jikker I know you're reading this. I love you buddy :)
Now even though my title says "stop removing my posts" that's not the main reason why I'm making this post nor do I really care if he/she/they do. That's their "job" to regulate boards. As long as whoever's removing the posts is doing it in sincerity, without spite and to their best judgement, who am I to tell them to stop? But I would at least like to try to explain myself on why I disagree and also notify those reading why the violation that may seem vague and elastic cannot be conformed or stretched to overlap what I was flagged for.
So the first violation I got was due to responding to a comment about "Moody P," a pretty frequent user of boards. I've got nothing against the guy. He seems like a pretty cool dude that's passionate about certain fighter champions that he believes are weak. I agree and disagree with some of the stuff he says. The comment I replied to read "This guy is always right pretty much," which I responded with a screenshot of a conversation we had a few months or weeks back in response to him saying "I was lying to myself" because I believed that jax and irelia were two of the strongest champs in the game and also that I believed fighters and juggernauts were one of the strongest classes in the game. And I captioned it with "I wonder why I don't agree with moody P at times."
And for this the violation I was flagged for "don't be a jerk.." and it was tagged with
"Posting a discussion that took place with a image titled "Moody p lol XD" to discredit a particular poster is considered harassment and absolutely not tolerated on the Boards. Consider this your only warning to not participate in this type of behavior."
Which at first, I didn't understand how that was being "a jerk," but I'm guessing since the title was "Moody P lol XD" someone inexperienced in internet talk or culture in general would think that's an actual attempt at a roast instead of an ironic phrase that players use to show lightheartedness due to it's outdated origin. If you see anyone use the phrase "lol XD" unironically, they either have a time machine computer and sent that message/comment from 2004 or they more than likely are trying to show what they're presenting or their current mood is non-malicious.
But I can still kind of understand the reasoning behind it. Especially since the sceenshot was uploaded to another site, which a moderator might see that as "oh he's taken something from boards and posted it on another site to ridicule that person on that site." It was imgur. Imgur. The reason why I uploaded it to imgur is because I cannot directly upload pictures to the boards-well at least I haven't found a specific way to. If you know a way, please let me know.
I disagree with it, but again, I can see why someone looking from the outside can see that as "being a jerk" or harassment. Not a problem.
Then today. I received the same flagged violation. Which was because I said "He's playing talon/zed and he's just sitting there wondering to himself "WHY CANT I PRESS R AND WIN??!?!?!?!?!? THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!!" which was in response to someone saying that items like zhonyas and banshees was too efficient. This was in reply to another user that said "lol most likely" which was in reply to another comment that I made that read "Assassin main I presume?"
and ya know what? Even though it was an obvious hyperbolic joke that's humor is based off of the fact that zhonyas counters both zed and talon's ultimate, I'll give it to Mr Jikker. If something like that was based off of just an assumption and had no ground to it. I can definitely see it as "being a jerk."
Actually the report was even tagged with "Making assumptions about the person and invalidating their thread based on these assumptions is not cool. In the future, keep your content constructive and if you disagree with someone's thoughts or opinions, explain why rationally and with facts." so that makes sense :)) . . . . . OH WAIT A MINUTE!!! >:(((((( It's not an assumption. Maybe because not only did I know this person was an assassin main and played champions like zed and talon from not only checking his match history but also BECAUSE HIS NAME WAS "DontRework(name of an assassin champion) (I'm not going to give this person's full name because I'm pretty sure if I do, that would be considered being a jerk and would enable my post to being deleted :>).
So no, it wasn't based off of a baseless assumption Mr Jikker. If you'd taken 20 seconds to at least click on the person's name and go to "match history" or even just reading his name. You would know that. The person even commented after my joke and he said "I don't play those champions." And even though I could have said " I can clearly see that 6/17 zed game that you had from your match history." I didn't want to be "a jerk" and go that far, not only because losing that hard is embarrassing and I didn't want to shame the guy and make it seem like I was legitimately opposing his stance or make it irrelevant. Instead of saying all that I commented. "It was just an example friend." And just left it at that.
But let's talk about the "being a jerk" rule. Surely that rule can just overlap to mean anything someone dislikes right? Wrong. It's actually outlined in the specifically in the rules what that means.
_"Don’t be a jerk We’re aiming for the most sportsmanlike gaming community in the world, in-game and out. Just because you’re anonymous doesn’t give you a license to be an asshat. Posts that walk over the line will be deleted. Repeat offenders may be permanently kicked out.
Moderators will take action against the following: ● Players posting content that would seen as extremely offensive to others ● Players attacking an individual or group in a way that could be considered severe ● Players making baseless complaints or contesting private matters that isn't relevant to an active discussion"_
So I'm guessing the two I could be stretched in an attempt to fit mine are "● Players making baseless complaints or contesting private matters that** isn't relevant to an active discussion**" and "● Players attacking an individual or group in a way that could be considered severe"
But fail because of the context of these aformentioned "violations."
Seeing as how easy it is to get someone's content deleted for saying something they didn't like. I might have to go back to that moody P's reply where he said I was lying to myself just because I disagreed with him. Like, what a JERK. I'm lying to myself just because I don't share the same opinion as he does sob sob sob. In fact how does he even know that I'm lying to myself. What a baseless ASSUMPTION. how would anyone be able to know that someone's lying to themselves unless they have a lie detector. How does he know my true feelings?!?!?!?!? ARGH!!!!!
Btw that was a joke.
If you actually read this far. Congrats. You have wasted about................ hmmm lemme see. ....... I think........hmmmmmmmm... about 2 minutes if you're a quick reader and like 7-10 minutes if you didn't pay attention in literature class, but I would like to say as much as I dislike that my comments were taken down, I don't dislike the jikker guy, even if this post makes it seem so. Even though I mostly use reddit for 99 percent of my league community interaction and come on boards every now and then, I'm glad there are people that take the time to regulate the site. I just don't want to be misunderstood or misrepresented.
