[Ver 4.0.4] Minor Boards Performance & Feature Updates
It's been a while since we rolled out our 4.0.3 updates, so I wanted to follow up with you guys ahead of the Boards 4.0.4 planned updates. There's not a lot of new or exciting changes in this update, but we've got some stuff planned for the near future. I've included the set of updates, aggregated in bullet point form:
#Ver 4.0.4 Upcoming Changes (Expected)
- Performance Updates
- We've made some adjustments to improve the performance of our previous changes, so you may see threads render a tad bit faster
- Voting Indicators
- As shown below, I've adjusted vote colors to be more reflective of a gradient scale. Currently and prior, one vote could shift a thread from green to blue, or blue to red, and we felt that was a bit harsh to say the least. *https://i.imgur.com/sDNxEj2.png
- "In Response To" Feature - Messaging indicates whether parent comment has been deleted (shown below)
- The "Go to Parent" button on the bottom has been moved into the "In Response To" box as the "GO TO COMMENT" button for better clarity and flow

- Localization
- The changes were previously only localized for English; however, as we prepare to deploy these changes to the European Boards, we're making sure our messaging is consistent to the preferred language of each user. Localization isn't completely done, but it's on the list of things to complete, and certain parts of the changes have already been localized.
As of now, these changes will hopefully be rolled out on either Monday or Tuesday; but this may need to be pushed back for a number of reasons.
#Beyond V4.0.4/The Future
We're exploring solutions to improve user experience within Player Recruitment that includes changes to the rules as well as the platform, but I don't have too much to share beyond that.
We also have plans to create a space that is conducive for folks to ask and answer questions within the Boards. If you have any suggestions regarding this, feel free to send them our way!
Level restrictions per sub-board have been unclear and inconsistent, so we're going to be adding clearer messaging and notifications when a user doesn't meet the minimum level to vote, comment, or create a discussion; this will include listing the minimum levels in that sub-board, as well as instructions on how to sync your level.
Deploying changes to EU Boards & completion of localization of these updates.
With that being said, that concludes the updates. If you have any suggestions for any Boards-related features, feel free to drop a comment below!
