Boards Mods getting out of control of removing content again; time for another team meeting?

Anyone who uses Boards enough knows there have been quite of a few periods in time where the Boards Mods start getting a little too trigger happy and removing a bunch of content for no reason.

Now, I'm not talking about reported content; the Boards Mods have always had a very unclear idea of what is and isn't punishable but still try their best. (Although if anyone knows anything, their policy is basically "the better thief doesn't get punished".)

But steering clear from that discussion of no right or wrong; I'm talking about post removal for being under the "wrong board". It was a major problem awhile back with posts getting removed from boards other mods had told players to post their thread under after originally removing it from another board. Sounds redundant, right? Well, apparently we're here at that point again where the Boards Mods need to sit down and get their stuff together. And I'm sure I'll be down voted for saying so, but whatever.

When posts about skin creations are being removed from Concepts and Creations, I'm just wondering what thought process could be going through someone's mind to think a concept post doesn't belong on the Concept and Creations Board? Plenty of other cases; you click on the "Discuss the Boards" Board and all it is again are posts about Boards Mods unrightfully removing posts despite them being in a board that makes perfect sense to be under.

Either Riot needs to get real Rioters to monitor Boards, or the Boards Mods need to have some proper communication with each other so the same threads stop being removed from multiple Boards because no one is telling anyone after deleting something.

Hey Vhan, so I'll really quickly mention why your post was removed:

Concepts and Creations is for proposing skins, sharing fan art/fiction/etc and talking about content you or a friend made for league of legends. For example, a champion concept or a skinline. Sometimes with art, sometimes just a rough idea written down on paper.

Story, Art & Sound is specifically talking about Riot created/focused content. This is where you discuss skinlines, splash arts, backstory, etc. For example, Evelynn's new VO or how her tango splash art was really out of wack with the in-game model before the update.

Your post was removed/asked to be shuffled for a few reasons:

  • 1.) You're not proposing any new idea or concept/creation. Most of your post was criticism that Evelynn's skin tone changed and that it wasn't right for the tone to be changed.

  • 2.) The only part that can conceviably be targeted at C&C is "I'm more willing to throw money down for a skin that actually stays true to Evelynn's character". Maybe if you had expanded upon this and gave ideas/concepts, it wouldn't have been moved. However, this was a throwaway line more than anything. It didn't "create" or propose anything. Just saying that you'd buy it.

  • 3.) Your tone came off as a bit rough and a little weird at points. "You kids are just afraid to love a blue lady" for example. Good sir, Draenei are perfect angelic women and the Asari are cute as can be. Point is, it doesn't help your point when you undermine anyone who thinks different in such a way. (Plus you got a bit hostile in the comments.)

So all in all, your post focused more in chastising the skin team/rework team for the direction Evelynn's character took rather than proposing or creating something to solve the problem. Does this mean you can't? Of course not. If anything, I think you're the perfect type of person to work on Evelynn skins considering you're so passionate about it...but the idea for the skin -has- to be there or else it's not really a C&C post. As it stands, your post was more so talking to the rework team about how you felt about the (Riot-created) skins and model work.

Hope that clears things up as to why your post was shuffled as it was.

As Cap has addressed the points about why your content was removed and where it belongs, I want to let you know that we value the rest of your feedback about our moderation as well and have indeed read it.

If at any point you think your content is removed unfairly, we encourage you to come directly to us on the Moderation Discord and discuss it with us. This board is a great place for feedback and a public discussion, but a private live chat is a little better (though you can come to us on either one). We don't always see the situation in the same way you do and we want your side and the context it can provide; if we messed up, we'll do what we can to fix it.

This goes for reporting content too. The mod discord is also there so you guys can give us context to your reports. We do see every report that comes through, but sometimes it takes a lot more personal time to look into more subtle violations, and if you think we overlooked something or maybe it's an extreme and time sensitive situation you can let us know and give us the context we need to handle the situation appropriately. While we can use your help in this regard, it doesn't mean we aren't paying attention; all our moderators are members of the community and spend a lot of time here, so we actually notice a lot more than you think.

As for the "problem awhile back" with mods not communicating, that was because we were transitioning away from the paid moderation team to the volunteers; since then we've all pretty much been on the same page. Again, if you think we messed up with an action just hit us up with the details and we'll set it right.
