My concept for Fiora

Hi guys. I've read a bit about Riot's thoughts on Fiora and their desire to update her. Having played her a reasonable amount (though I'm by no means an expert on her), I was inclined to give some consideration to what direction her kit could be taken in.

I came up with the following - The core idea is to bring Fiora in line with other "duelist" type champions like Jax, Yasuo, Tryndamere, and Master Yi. Move the damage out of her abilities and into her auto-attacks, and focus her abilities on utility and defense. I feel like this concept also manages to preserve much of Fiora's live gameplay even with its differences. Lastly, I think it might make her a stronger midlaner (in line with Guinsoo's professed desire to move her out of top).

Passive - Vigor (for lack of a better name): Fiora's basic attacks increase her movement speed by 4% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 6 times. Basic attacks against champions grant two stacks. Reasoning: Fiora's old passive was a big pain point for her, as it was extremely hard to notice or benefit from. Giving her passive movement speed from auto-attacks allows her to stick to her targets efficiently while encouraging her to stay in the fight.

Q - Lunge (Same cooldown as live): Fiora dashes to her target, evading projectiles along the way and striking them for 40/65/90/115/140 (+60% bonus AD) physical damage. Fiora can dash again at no cost within 4 seconds, but will not evade projectiles a second time if dashing to the same target. Reasoning: Fiora now has some of the defensive utility previously held in her ult moved into her Q. She is able to compete in midlane against ranged champions by using her dashes tactically to avoid dangerous spells or auto-attack poke.

W - Riposte PASSIVE: Fiora gains 1/1.4/1.8/2.2/2.6 bonus attack damage per level.

W - Riposte ACTIVE (12/11/10/9/8 second cooldown): Fiora raises her defenses, deflecting the first basic attack or single-target spell (and all associated on-hit effects) to hit her within the next 1.5 seconds. After a successful deflection, Fiora will counterattack the source of the effect for 60/90/120/150/180 (+60% bonus AD) physical damage if they are within 250 units of her. Reasoning: Fiora can now block certain spells (and on-hit effects) with her W. Her counter-attack is now physical damage and scales with AD, but only applies if she is staying close to her target. Her passive bonus AD is spread out over the levels, giving her a larger amount overall while reducing her cheesiness early on.

E - Burst of Speed (15 second cooldown): Fiora gains 60/75/90/105/120% attack speed for 3 seconds. Basic attacks against champions reduce the cooldown of Burst of Speed by 1 second, or 2 seconds while Burst of Speed is active. Reasoning: Fiora gets most of her original benefits from E (Though the movement speed is now a constant passive). She is rewarded further for attacking enemy champions, especially for using Burst of Speed to attack them. Something interesting to note is that if Fiora achieves the maximum attack speed of 2.5 while Burst of Speed is active, she can effectively keep it active at all times.

R - Flourish PASSIVE: Fiora's successive basic attacks against the same target grant Insight, granting 1/2/3% armor penetration per stack and stacking up to 10 times.

R - Flourish ACTIVE (120 second cooldown): Fiora deals a decisive blow to her target, dealing 150/300/450 (+100% bonus AD) physical damage, increased by 10% for each application of Insight active. Reasoning: Fiora no longer has her problematic old ult, but instead has a powerful finishing move empowered by her basic attacks.

Thoughts on this concept? Criticisms? Ideas? I'd love to hear other people's concepts, as well.

As a kit, I think it's interesting. It certainly makes fiora a stronger bruiser.

However, as a fencer irl, I don't like it thematically - when you fence you're not just jumping on them and poking until you hit them, you're playing mind games, looking for an opening. When you find one, you jump in, get a hit, and get back. If you miss your hit, though, you're vulnerable.

The changes I proposed (unfortunately I can't find my post - it was really old) included:

At the time, I didn't propose any Passive changes; However, I like your passive.

Passive: Fiora's basic attacks increase her movement speed by 4% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 6 times. Basic attacks against champions grant two stacks.

Fiora's Q is now a skillshot dash. If you hit an enemy champ with it, you jump back to your starting position (think Quinn). If you miss, it goes on an extended cooldown. It does apply on-hit effects.

This is a skill that hurts - it's Fiora's bread-and-butter damage skill. The consequence of this is that while Fiora has great disengage and poke, she has trouble finishing an opponent off (unless they stick around so that q can 1-shot them), because if she uses the skill as a gapcloser, she sacrifices a lot of damage, and if she uses it for damage, she's no longer in range of her opponent - this means her ult is basically her kill potential. It's also very punishing for Fiora to miss her Q - it puts her near her opponent with no escape and handicapped damage - that's a lost trade. On the other hand, you're basically guaranteed to win your trades if you hit your q's, if your opponent is melee.

Fiora's W is now named Parry. If you successfully parry an enemy champion basic attack, your next ability or auto against that target does amplified damage and the cooldown on lunge is refreshed* (or reset to 1 second if lunge was on extended cooldown). If Fiora autoattacks or casts abilities while parry is active, parry goes on cooldown without activating.

I also didn't propose any E changes, I like yours again, so here's my idea (with slight modifications):

E - Burst of Speed (15 second cooldown): Fiora gains 60/75/90/105/120% attack speed for 2 seconds. While it is active, basic attacks against champions deal 10/15/20/25/30% reduced damage, grant Fiora 0/1/2/3/4% armor penetration for 8 seconds, and reduce the cooldown of Fiora's basic abilities by 1 second.

R was also not my idea, originally - I believe this one is what Riot actually came up with (or something along the lines).

R: Cooldown of Q is immediately refreshed. Fiora can now cast Q 5 times at no mana cost, with .5 seconds between casts. For the duration of her ult, she no longer jumps away when she hits champs with her Q. She also becomes untargetable, mid-dash (targetable in between dashes).

More or less, it's her current ult, but manual, and with brief periods of target-ability.

I love everything except the Ult. I really love her ult the way it is now. Its fun and satisfying.

but yes ! riposte should be able to deflect a spell! that would be epic. along with a stun. It gives more technique to her riposte.

After being a Fiora main for some time, Some of these changes seem good, but also some take away what makes her such a good duelist champion. I like the Riposte idea of being able to reflect stuns, maybe make the champion who shot the stun slow for a few seconds. The passive however is a different story. The flat AD he passive provides now is what makes her so successful in my opinion in early game, and helps her get ahead from tanky top laners such as shyvana or Renekton. Not having this AD would not seriously hurt her as a champion, but wouldn't make her as strong early game. The Burst of Speed is a good one as well, though the successive attacks against champions to reduce the cooldown is tricky. When it's maxed out ingame, you could hit so fast that it would come up every 5-8 seconds, which some might consider to be a little Over Powered. And as for the Flourish ability, the ultimate she has now is what makes her such a good duelist. If you wanted to change it, I recommend Have her dash to a target, sort of like Zed in a way, and slashing the target 4-5 times. If you manage to kill a champion, it could be like Darius' ultimate, and come off cooldown, or maybe reduce the cooldown like Katarina's passive. These are just some thoughts for the champion, I really like the way she is, but if Riot is going to change her, maybe take my words into consideration. :P
