Here we have a quick update from Riot Silver about enhancing some of the outdated skin splash arts that are currently in-game. The splashes targeted are those that are generally outdated, inaccurately depicting the in-game model, or are not in line with riot's current art style direction. These new splashes seem to be pulled from existing assets (chinese splashes more specifically).

I would like to express my feelings towards a specific skin splash art that has bothered me since I saw the chinese art.

Hextech janna was one of the first skins I ever purchased, and being the skin I religiously used until I switched over to frost queen, I have a special place in my heart for it.

Let's compare the current splash art, with the chinese splash art.

I shouldn't even have to explain any reasoning, just look at the difference in accuracy and quality. Supposedly, these are the main reasons why a splash art was not updated.

1. We feel the current splash is of higher or comparable quality (We’re looking for instances where there is a noticeable upgrade.)

No, it isn't. It is nowhere near comparable quality. There is a very noticeable increase in quality with the chinese splash, this is not debatable. Not to mention the NA splash art (especially on the loading screen) has the center of attention focus on her breasts, which is just stupid.

2. Alternatives are too drastically different from current splash or in-game model (we're looking to improve overall cohesion in addition to just visual quality.)

I am seriously offended that, even after years of me (and others) making a very clear statement that the chinese hex tech janna splash is far superior and needs to be adopted across other servers, it's not even included in this huge list of changes.

I would like an explanation, please.

It's not just Janna that's been affected by this. Nearly all of the Chinese Splash Arts have higher quality, more accurate representations of the champion pictured, and increased cohesion. I'm surprised the all weren't just added rather than just 33.

And if they want to talk about cohesion, Steel Legion Garen's face in the Splash Art is drastically different than the in-game version (Splash Art: Five O' Clock Shadow / In-game: Muttonchops). Sometimes, Riot does not make any sense.

It could be they are doing an experiment. See if people like the Chinese art (obviously, we do) and if it's a success, transfer the others. But keep pointing this out. Riot won't know until someone in the community says it.

Side note If it wasn't for the fact that I already own Weather Woman Janna, I would pick up Hextech Janna because of that splash art.

I was even more surpirsed that Pharaoh Nidalee Nidalee splash remained the same. I mean have you looked at that?

This is a discussion for the PBE forums, and Hextech Janna is merely one of the dozens of skins that could jump on this bandwagon.

Well, some of the "new" splash art are strange too.

Red riding annie is ugly atm, but the chinese splash don't fit the lol theme, even a little bit (and I suppose they don't change lolly poppy for the same reason)

The american one looks so bad it inspired trolls to purchase it to make their teammates and opponents suffer during loading screens. meanwhile the chinese one just looks cute and adorable.

The camera is focused on her breasts because in all skins except the amazing Forecast Janna, her personality is essentially a floating pair of breasts.

Not gonna lie, I honestly like the current splash more. Where the chinese splash art may be higher quality, I think it portrays the skin idea much more poorly. When I think hextech in this game, its usually repredented by cool almost steampunkish themes, so when I think hextech janna, I want to see a female steampunky engineer almost. When I look at the current splash that's exactly what I see. When I look at the chinese splash I basically see storm from X-men. While thats cool and all, I dont think it even comes close to portraying the feel I would want to have when playing in a hextech skin. Just saying.
