Orianna

So I've made the same topic on EUW and I want to see what NA thinks. As you know, Lee is getting nerfed because he kinda has an overloaded kit. He's aggressive and at the same time so safe with his insane mobility and utility. Now, I was thinking, Orianna is just a no mobility Lee Sin. She's safe and at the same time aggressive, due to her Q range. She has incredible utility, due to having an AoE ms boost that becomes an AoE slow, and she (or whoever the ball is attached to) also gets free tankiness from E. And on top of that, we have an aoe knockup with very high damage that easily opens the chance to deal your massive aoe burst (just r+w+q and you are done if the enemy team gets caught.) Don't know, it sounds a bit overloaded for me. Opinions?

Orianna has been a top pick in professional play for a long time, but she's far from the absolutely massive pick/ban rate of Lee Sin. Yes she has massive AoE damage and decent safety, but that's pretty natural for a mage. Karma also has a shield and speed buff, not to mention huge damage with her Q, as well as great utility. Lulu also brings similar attributes to the table. Look at other mages like Lux, she has incredibly long range and decent safety with all her CC and her shield (that procs twice on her, btw). Xerath, a pick that's gaining popularity, also has a ton of range and a skill shot stun as one of his basic abilities, giving him great utility and safety. Ziggs has an AoE knockup as one of his basic abilities, not to mention near infinite poke and waveclear and a massively damaging ult that is global. I actually think Orianna is in a really great spot: she's a champion that, yes, can be very powerful, but it's gated not only by player mechanical skill but also larger factors like map awareness and teamfight awareness. Because she's such a common, but not overbearing pick in professional play, I think she's actually one of the better balanced champions in the game.

You got to remember that ball position and movement speed is part of the balance. To take the ball form the north side and all the way to the south side actually takes a while. So she does not zone all sides limiting her actual influence. With the ball also being visible to everyone (unless on stealth champs, and that is an issue) shows what area she can do.

I would consider her to be a mid range mage these days. And with all the gap close on all the other champs see needs what her kit does at those ranges.
