Whenever I go a while with launching League, when I log in, on the first login, it says: Connection Error: Unable to connect to the PVP.net server. Then the client exits. So when I relaunch it and log in again, it finally lets me through. This happened everytime since the current patch.
It's Obama's fault.
But yeah. I'm getting the same problem.
I am also experiencing this issue. The second try always works though.

We are currently working to resolve the recent login issues on NA. In the meantime please double-check your connection and try logging in again.
I'm experiencing this exact same problem as well.
I think that it's a subtle troll from rito, since Ekko can "rewind" time, he makes it so that you have to re-log in.
Because rito.
Also having this issue, if its of any help this started prior to the Ekko patch... 
And Riot still hasn't commented on this.
