This despite similar abilities like Braum's shield or Yasuo's windwall not blocking them at all.

Pretty sure it's intended to preserve his old turret blocking mechanic.
Which leaves him an assassin that can efficiently tank a turret without taking damage for several entire seconds versus his at most two blocks in the past.
