Anivia E-R bug

I was in a game an Anivia and this is what would happen.

I would ult underneath the enemy syndra and throw a quick e down, the ult should have chilled the syndra to take the bonus damage from e. As I throw my e syndra kills me, and my e hits but does not count the chilled bonus from the ult. Causing me to lose a lot of damage. I don't know if this is specific with this combo or just with Syndra.
