Some minor Zed audio/visual bugs that have been persisting for a few months.

These bugs have been around since PROJECT Zed's release. Though they are admittedly not very impactful to gameplay, it's still been quite a while.

  • The sound that PROJECT Zed makes when he creates a W shadow, is switched with the sound he makes when he jumps to a shadow, and vice versa. - To reproduce, select the PROJECT skin and use W. Zed will make a quick "HAAA" sound, (this used to be the "jump" sound before PROJECT's release bugged it) when before, he used to make a long "hhhrrrraaaahhh" sound. Then wait a moment, then jump to the shadow. Zed will then make the latter sound. Before PROJECT's release, these sounds were swapped.

  • This is also true for his other skins, including Classic. The voice lines for shadow creation has been changed to the sound he makes when he jumps to a shadow, but his other skins don't play a voice sound when he jumps to a shadow. It seems to be entirely missing. - To reproduce, pick any skin except PROJECT, and use W. Zed will make the incorrect "HAAA" sound as mentioned earlier. Then, wait a moment. Then jump to the shadow. Zed does not make any sound. This is on all of his skins except for PROJECT.

  • PROJECT Zed does not have an "idle reset" animation. This is the animation that usually plays after a champion finishes an emote, to bring a smooth transition back to their idle state. PROJECT Zed does not have this animation. - To reproduce, simply do any emote (except dance) and look closely at the player model when the emote finishes playing. After the animation ends, the model "slides" into an idle state rather than having the same idle-transition animation that his other skins have.

ZED'S ORIGINAL SOUNDS can be heard in his old Skin Spotlights. Notice that whenever he makes a shadow, he makes a whispery sound, and whenever he jumps to a shadow, he makes a quick, loud sound. In PROJECT, these sounds are swapped, and in his other skins (including classic) one of the sounds (creation sound) is entirely missing.

Disregard the buggy, slow recall in the Shockblade video. That video was made when Zed was on PBE. The recall animation was fixed before his release.

Yo Desiderium!

Thanks so much for this detailed write up!

I've gone ahead and written bug tickets for the missing effort Vo on his shadow swap (classic, Shockblade, and Skt) and his missing idle transition on the Project skin. The effort VO on Project sounds correct to me, but I'll get an audio engineer to check it out to verify. I can't say when these will be fixed but we have them in the system now, it all depends on the audio teams bandwidth. :D

Thanks Galetta :3

As for the Project VO - you're partially right; they are the correct sounds, they're just not in the right places. Ever since release, Zed makes a long, quiet sound when making his W shadow, and a quick sound when jumping to it. Project's release swapped these. There's a chance that it might have been bugged this whole time and Project's release fixed it to the way it's actually supposed to be, and I'm okay with that (it's not entirely clear what's going on either way, and it's not like I made the champion to know what the original sounds should be) but even if that is the correct sound placement, his other skins are still missing a sound file.

♥ Thanks again for the write up, these have been bothering me for quite a while.

So, it's patch 6.13 now, and none of these issues are addressed yet...

It's been almost a year since Project Zed's release when these bugs came out.

I get that sometimes low-priority bugs get bumped down on the to-do list when bigger bugs come up. But how long are they going to stay neglected? "Death to a thousand papercuts" is a thing. I feel like, after a certain amount of time that a bug keeps getting bumped down and bumped down, that it should eventually be prioritized. It just doesn't feel right to have something persist for so long, you know?

If anyone needs a refresher; ever since Project Zed's release, he is missing an idle-transition animation after using an emote (he has one, but not the other.) Additionally, when the skin was released, Zed's other skins lost their "shadow creation (W)" effort sound, and had it replaced with the "shadow swap" effort sound. Project Zed is not missing sounds, but instead has them switched around (shadow creation effort sound is now the swap effort sound, and vice versa.) I get that you said you don't see anything wrong with the creation sound and that's perfectly fine I guess. Then where's the other missing sound? All that would need to be done is to fix Project's missing transition animation and add a missing sound back to his other skins, if you really don't want to swap the sounds back to how they were on his release.

It's not fun being the type of person to notice finer details. It tends to get me upset more than it makes me happy.

I made some edits for clarity and included reference videos.
