Pinging moves my cursor to the center of the screen

This is massively inconvenient and makes communicating my intent in game very difficult, especially as a jungler. I don't know if it's my mouse or my OS or my computer or the client itself. If you could solve this problem though, that would be great.

I'm playing on the mac client. OS High Sierra 10.13.3
