i played 2 games as thresh and the relic shield and targon's brace failed to execute the minions resulting in a loss of cs and early selling of targon's brace to have to buy aincent coin. not sure if its a problem with the item or just a problem with the item on thresh but i like to make sure save a stack to execute seige minions and its a problem seeing them still alive no gold in my pocket and no heal on my ally me when i need it
only melee basic attack execute minions with relic shield
Thresh is ranged. Ranged can not proc the Execute (the gold and heal, however, WILL work but you still have to last hit the minion).
Really wish people would read the items.

If you want a tip for using 
with Thresh;
1) Let your (E) Flay build up the full damage bonus (red icon) for a stronger basic attack. 2) If you have to to secure a Siege Minion, Flay or (Q) Death Sentence if you're going to miss the basic attack. Doesn't matter how you kill it, the Gold/Heal will still go to your ally. 3) If you still can't stand using these items on Thresh, just stick with the Ancient Coin line.
i will say i didnt think thresh was ranged thought his attacks ware long for meele range but very short for ranged
