Client randomly closes but the client doesn't quit -> trying to reopen says it's already open

End the tasks in the processes tab of task manager if the automatic thing won't do it. rads_user_kernel, lolclient, lollauncher, lolpatcher.. i think those are all the names it uses.

Ah. I wouldn't hold out much hope for the current client being fixed, it's just a horrific disaster so they're making an all new client! It's looking pretty good so far :)
