Hextech Crafting just ate my chest and key and I got nothing from it

I just forged a key and opened a chest, then my client glitched out for a second, consumed both the chest and the key, and I got nothing. This has happened twice now.

It seems to happen when I click on the "Open" button for the chest very fast, like when I'm rushing the whole process.
