Client disappears and forces me to restart pc

This has been happening a lot recently. Whenever I finish a game and click on anything (shop/hextech/play/profile) the client just disappears.

When I try to start League again it says "an instance is running" despite the Task Manager showing it isn't. I have to restart my PC every time if I want to open League again

Yes this has happened to me about 4 times since 6.14. Just go to task manager find, the patcher kernel, lolclient and end the tasks. Then restart league adn you should be fine.

Repair the game by clicking the question mark icon to the top right of the patcher. Select "Repair" and let the patcher scan and repair corrupt game files. When the process is completed, you'll see the orange "Launch" button.

This happened to me when I clicked accept queue, so it counted as a dodge.

One more detail I can offer is that the client not only vanishes, but any sound is muted as well. If not for the running process in task manager, the client leaves no traces of running (no tray icon or anything).
