So why the hell, after sooooooooo much time, it still requires between 5 to 10 minutes of wait after your broken client claims the patch is finished? It has been so ever since its implementation and is still one of the most broken part of it amongst dozens of other problems.

Either learn what 100% means or fix your thing Riot. Waiting for years to fix a problem almost every users encounters at least once per month is the kind of thing an overloaded IT intern would do, in the case of a billion dollar making company, it is outright shameful and humiliating.

if other software is what to go by, the client attempts to verify its files and processes and such before continuing, so it takes a lot of time at the end

usually though when things are doing this, they at least have the courtesy to say "verifying files" or what step is actually happening

Im pretty sure the client works its ass off to get to 100%, then just takes a break and forgets to press the "DONE" button, so he comes back after a coffee and lunch and goes "Oh shit" and rushes to press the DONE button

Do you not see the "Applying Patches" in the notification or are you intentionally glossing it over? 100% and "DOWNLOADING GAME" means that the game has finished downloading and is now applying the patches that were downloaded and verifying thousands and thousands of files that were updated + replacing/deleting yours.

You know, the usual thing that happens when you're installing/updating something on your computer.

Now that I think about it, I might be able to explain this. What’s most likely happening here is that the percentage shows what percentage of files have been downloaded, not the actual status of the update. Basically, once it hits 100% of files downloaded, it then takes forever to actually apply them. Either that, or once it hits 100%, it then has to go through a bunch of shutdown checks or something. Either way it’s poorly designed, though...

1-100 = downloading patch. After 100 = installing/patching.

They probably figure installing is usually fast so it would just be confusing to restart the bar at 0% when it starts tp apply the patch.

This applies to just about every piece of software that I have ever experienced on Windows starting with Windows 95, and several Linux distros. This is not exclusive to league of legends. That is more of a software philosophical question in general lol

As said before this stuff even happens with Windows applications, it is in no way league exclusive. There's more to a patch than just downloading and overwriting files.

That's a "problem" ye, but it's a bit ridiculous thing to be angry with, I've had that too and it never took more than 5 min. Is that a problem?
