[CLIENT] even on fresh install, "PVP.net patcher error," instead of launching at all

Some weeks ago, when I tried to launch the League of Legends game, it stopped launching at all. It never makes it to the splash screen; it never even gets to showing the "patching" screening.

I double-click on the icon, an error message comes up saying "PVP.net patcher error." And that's it!

For a pretty long time, I was able to launch the game with either the alpha client, or the standard client. And both worked fine.

I was hoping, now that the standard client has been updated, this would . . . . maybe sweep out some corrupted .dll file in my computer someplace, maybe? I mean, I don't know what's wrong!

I've tried, several times, to completely uninstall League of Legends, and to reinstall it. I've tried removing every file I can find. . . . Yet, still, this same error. . .
