Malzahar Ultimate into Nocturne Spell Shield - Possible Bug

In the video Malz ults me with spell shield up. Noc doesn't take damage or get suppressed but the animation continues. Is this a bug or intended? I know if a champion uses qss for malz ult then the damage and animation will continue but the suppression is removed. Shouldn't the animation be cancelled if a malz ults a spell shield?

QQS removes debuffs, nocturne and sivir shields avoid 1 abilitie, so he doesnt take dmg as well, but you have to cancel the animation

You canceled the ability hitting you but he still needs to do the animation.
