I played some ranked games yesterday and after 2 wins in a row, there was an animation that popped up that said that i've been promoted to Silver V. I went to my profile and it still says that i'm in Silver V. I honestly don't even understand promos or how the ranked system works, but i thought i had to go to bronze first? How can i be Silver V already after only recently playing ranked matches? Can someone explain this please. Is this a bug?
No791 votesYour 10 matches from promos decide what rank you will be in afterwards. From there you can either climb up higher, or you can go lower. You don't necessarily have to start in Bronze.

You'll get your border when they give out the season rewards at the end of the season :)
Francisco Pires1 votesBefore getting a rank you have to play 10 placement matches. those 2 matches were probably your last 2 out of those ten. After you play those 10 macthes, you'ill get a rank based on your wins/losses (not sure about score). You can even start in higher ranks, tho if its your first time playing placement matches you'ill probably be in bronze or silver.

These borders are given at the end of each season as ranked rewards. If you remain in silver when Riot decides to stop the season, then you will get the border. Usually higher divisions get more rewards than the border.
Francisco Pires1 votesFor example, i won 4 of my matches and got placed in silver 5 (season 4). This season i only won 3 and got in bronze 4 (bronze 3 now). now i can climb to bronze 2, but in season 6 i'ill have to play 10 matches again and i can get silver, though i may finish season 5 as bronze
