Can't detonate E right off the bat, it's on about a 0.3 ~ 0.4 second delay and will never trigger when you want it to.
Meanwhile whenever I ult in any given direction, it goes about ~6 degrees further down or up, depending on how you're ulting.

Well you can Q-E-R. Her ult is also really wide so if you aim dead center, that won't matter.
Maybe you have bad ping have you checked that? I asked because you failed to mention anything about ping/lag spikes or drops in FPS. Or maybe you're also clicking on your map like a couple of players do when casting lux ult on accident.
If you tap E again when it's in flight it will detonate upon arrival.
It doesn't behave like Anivia's Q as in being able to detonate whenever/where you want it to. Lux's E will only detonate at the destination determined by the player.
