Friends list bein' wonky?

First things first, sometimes when I minimize the League client, my friends list becomes all messed up. I guess it's trying to sort out my friends list but fails to do so, so it'll leave gaps in between my friends names.

Secondly, at the very bottom is where your friends who haven't played League in quite some time go, as characterized by the lighter sorta grayed out name, right? So, if this is the case, how come my friend who played a game six minutes ago is down there, and his name is grayed out? Is this a bug, did they block me, idk what happened. I can't send them messages either.
