Kayn's ult ignores tethers when no other ability similar to it does this

Similar abilities: Any untargetable effect, Zed ult, Yi's Q, Shaco's ult, Zhonyas.

Spellshields also do not block the activation effect of a tether.

None of these ignore tether effects, but Kayn's ult for some inexplicable reason, does.

This isn't intuitive and runs counter to all the prior knowledge of similar abilities vs tether effects. It also makes him inordinately powerful vs champions with tethers. Namely, Leblanc, Karma, and Nocturne. It's a silly, unusual, singular interaction for Kayn only.

I don't really understand what you mean. If you tether Kayn and he ults, he can just stay in ult until the tether runs out right? Meanwhile, the other invulnerabilities you listed don't last as long. Don't really think this is a bug.

He still gets tethered, so he cannot break out while he is rooted.

He's referring to being inside and timing the CC out, which is not what occurs.

I understand what you mean but he can go inside before tether takes effect and come out unscathed, many times he has come out when the Fear of Nocturne would still be going. I am very intimately familiar with the time as I am a main with over 800k Mastery Points. Kayn definitely just ignores tether effects and Riot support has confirmed it. They told me to post here.
