Xin Zhao's new W (Wind Becomes Lightning) includes two separate portions to it: the initial sweep and the follow-up thrust. The entire spell is treated as a cast time, but you are able to flash at any point while casting the ability. As demonstrated in the GIF, this creates some strange, inconsistent behaviour with the resulting hitbox of the W (namely the thrust portion of the ability).

In the first and third example, Xin Zhao is aiming his W away from the target, but during the cast, flashes into a position so that the W aimed in the same direction from his new position would now hit. As it turns out, the thrust portion of the damage registers on the target.

In the second example, Xin Zhao aims W towards the target and then during the cast, flashes backwards and at an angle, so that the W aimed in the same direction from his new position would not hit. However, we see that the damage of the thrust still registers.

Lastly, Xin Zhao aims the W directly towards the target, and then flashes to the side, so that the W would not hit if aimed the same way from his new position. Unlike the second example, this time the thrust damage does not register.

From these examples, it is clear that there is no discernible consistency to Xin Zhao's W hitbox if he flashes during the cast time.
