What to buy as a smurf

So I just made my first smurf account and I figured the best way to go about things would be to spend 35$ + 400 rp and get a 7 day IP boost, a 7 day XP boost, the rune page bundle, and 2 975 champions on sale. I figured this is a great set up because I would have more than enough IP by the time I am 30 to buy all of the runes I need and enough to get enough champions for ranked. Opinions?

Runes are actually damn expensive. I'm not sure you'd be able to fill out 4 pages by the time you're level 30 unless you buy no champions at all. Kind of depends on how well you use your IP boost.

How much do you play? If you don't play a few games every day you would be better off not getting the 1 week boost. I personally would probably buy a few 3 day boosts for the weekends, or use win boosts and never play a bot game.

Also I wouldn't buy xp boosts, that will just put you behind in runes and/or champs compared to your level... the grind for IP is so much worse than the grind for levels

So I have a smurf (SirCriesHard) and this is kinda my view on a few of those things.

  1. XP/IP boosts. I believe somebody pointed it out but the day long boosts really are not worth it unless you are playing almost constantly. Especially for a week long boost, you need to have a lot of available time to play.

  2. Games. I found that ARAM's, as soon as you can play them, seem like a good way to level your account. It may not be the most grind efficient method but bot games can be very dull and don't give a lot of XP. However, unless you are smurfing with friends and you can churn games out, normal games at low level can take a really long time. ARAM's give an amount of XP between the two and generally do not take incredibly long. Twisted Treeline normals is also an option if you can finish those out before too long. ( I hear that 3v3 bot games with push comps all in one lane is the fastest way to grind, but this takes a team of 3 people doing the same thing over and over, and that just sounds really boring to me.)

  3. If you have extra RP, I would just pick up champs you like as they go on sale. If you are making a smurf to learn a particular role, I would pick up champs in that role as they go on sale, and when you do get to level 30 buy the champs that made you want to learn that role in the first place. Have versatility picks / backups for other roles, even if they are not orthodox. If you are good with that champion you can fill there just fine (in most cases).

  4. Runes. I would not worry about getting to level 30 too fast and not having enough runes. You don't really need a bunch of rune pages to move up in ranked. I don't have optimal rune pages on my smurf. I have a non optimal ad page, and a half and half ryze / mage/ non ad page. The smurf is SirCriesHard and was s4 plat after playing games with friends and then just playing solo-fill.

spend that money on your main account.
