Advanced Singed Tactics
Hello, my name is PoisonCloudNine. I am a Gold III Singed only player from the NA servers. I would like to share with you some tips and tricks that I have learned playing only Singed since Bronze V. I will make this brief as my last thread on the topic got deleted for reasons unknown. I am, by no means, a pro or an expert Singed player. However, I have played Singed for well over 400 ranked games and I feel I have a decent concept of how he is played.
EARLY GAME
- Look for opportunities to fling your opponent into your tower or into big groups of allied minions.
- Get used to using a Sky Auto Attack every time you fling. Sky Auto is performed by rapidly clicking your opponent while they are mid air or rapidly pressing A.
- Singed can out duel most top laners at level 2 with the use of Sky Auto Attack followed up with kiting, poison, and basic attacks.
- Basic attacks do more damage than poison ticks during the early game.
- Do not shove your lane early game and do not use your poison early game to farm. It uses too much mana and you will last hit more often with basic attacks.
- Singed can all in almost all top laners at level 6 if he has sufficient mana for 2 Sky Auto Attacks.
- Don't be afraid to go for an early Blasting Wand or 2 Dorans Rings if you are winning.
- Rod of Ages is still one of the best items on Singed.
- Put 2 points into Fling to lower the cooldown, but max your Mega Adhesive 2nd. The slow is too powerful for team fights.
Mid Game
- Your ultimate makes you deceptively strong at this point.
- Shove your lane and look for opportunities to ward and counter the enemy's jungle. You are very strong 1v1 and 2v1 especially if you have Ignite.
- Always look for opportunities to teleport bot and gank mid.
- You do a crazy amount of AOE damage during teamfights from this point on.
- Fling + Mega Adhesive combo is amazing for locking people down at all stages of the game. Mega Adhesive will now snare targets who get flung into it.
- Fling + Mega Adhesive under a tower is a deadly combo.
Dueling
- Activate your ult as early as possible. It lasts a very long time.
- Keep your enemy behind you and try to avoid taking any damage while your Fling is on cooldown.
- Going into a bush actually turns your poison invisible for a brief time.
- Sky auto attack + ignite can chunk squishier top laners for half hp and makes for an effective execute.
- You can fling champions over short walls. This is called a Void Fling and should be utilized to make a get away or turn a 2v1 scenario into a 1v1.
- If you are being chased, take the shortest route to your team and try to save mega adhesive for areas where it cannot be avoided.
Late Game
- Ghost + ult + Righteous Glory makes a very effective dive for squishy champions, but you should almost never engage as Singed.
- The only time it is appropriate to engage as Singed is if an enemy carry is out of position and you can fling them with a Ghost + Ult combo.
- Singed makes one of the best peelers in the game with his 2 AOE slows and fling.
- The longer a team fight lasts, the stronger Singed is. This is makes Singed very effective in the current meta (longer team fights)
Optimum Builds
-
My standard Singed build goes something like this: ROA > Rylais > Thorn/Liandrys > Abyssal. Builds are not static and should change based the current game you are playing.
-
Tear VS 2 Dorans Rings VS Rod of Ages
Most of the time, I find ROA to be the safest route, but if you are snowballing early, 2 dorans rings staright into rylai's can be an effective alternative. I have played several hundred games with Tear and I have found ROA to be better for mid game scaling. Despite this, Tear into Rylais is still viable.
-
Rod of Ages: This has always been a staple first item on Singed because it works very well with his passive and powerful scaling. I build this around 90% of the time as my first item.
-
Rylai's Crystal Scepter: In my opinion, this is the best item on Singed. It gives HP, AP and an incredible AOE slow. I build this item everytime I play Singed. If you are doing very well, you can build this as your first item after 2 dorans rings or a tear.
-
Thornmail: Any item that punishes carries for focusing you is great in my book. Thornmail is also an awesome item for countering popular AD top lanes. Late game, AD carries will do crazy amounts of damage to themselves if they focus you.
-
Righteous Glory: This item was practically made for Singed. Unfortunently, it is hard to fit into our build because it shares a passive with ROA. Regardless, the speed buff from this item is amazing. I have had decent success building 2 Dorans into Rylais and finally into Righteous Glory.
-
Liandrys Torment: This is typically a late game item on Singed UNLESS I am fed. If I am snowballing, I will rush this after Rylais. Liandrys is very powerful with Rylais due to the passive synergy.
Movespeed and Boots
-
Singed is reliant on kiting his opponents to deal damage, therefore Movespeed directly effects his DPS and should be considered a high priority stat.
-
I have tested both AP and Movespeed quints and have found the extra mobility to be invaluable as all stages of the game.
-
Boots should be picked up very early, preferably after your first back.
-
Boots of Swiftness typically are not as effective as the extra tenacity and MR offered by merc treads. Ninja Tabi is great vs AD top lanes, but should almost always be switched out for merc treads late game.
Teamfights
-
Never engage as Singed, even if you are the sole tank.
-
When the team fight starts, pop your ult and try and spread your poison cloud on as many people as possible.
-
Ideally, you want your poison on every ally and enemy champion to get the most out of your AOE slow.
-
Save your fling for 3 things: A) Flinging high priority enemy champions into your team. B) Peeling bruisers and assassins of high priority allies. C) Interrupting channeled uls such as Katarinas ult.
-
Never waste your fling on a tank who can potentially follow up with a devistating ult (Amumu).
-
Use your Mega Adhesive to catch low hp targets or block off enemy champions from accessing your back line.
-
Pop ghost for diving carries who are out of position with no escape abilities available.
