Having trouble getting back into the game

Hey everyone, after coming back to the game from a long break, I was many patches behind, and I had trouble adapting to the game even after read them. I main ADC, and noticed all of the itemization changes, especially the i.e nerfs and the different build paths. I just can not understand why everyone says ghostblade is strong and triforce ad's are strong. I mean, with ghostblade and i.e you only get 35% crit and with trinity force you only get 30% crit. Isn't that a huge drop in dmg? Is bloodthirster also a bad rush compared to i.e? Wouldn't the lifesteal stats make it worth it? Just need someone to clear things up. Thanks in advance.

BT has the same amount of attack damage as IE now, but IE gives crit (albeit nerfed to 20%). BT's lifesteal amount is drastically lower, the shield it gives only amounts to something if no one is focusing you in a teamfight while you're blasting away without being hit. Plus it degenerates outside of a fight so you can't just build a shield and save it for later. Most importantly, as I said they have same amount of AD so there is barely any reason for a caster like Graves or Lucian to go BT over IE first. Most ADC rushes IE now, except for TF ADCs.

Trin. force ADCs have always been strong because they have mobility/escape plus burst so laning phase is easier and they can zone to the point that enemy adc cannot even get experience without getting bursted down quick.

Ghostblade is not that popular anymore. It was only really popular on Lucian for his ultimate, and Lucian has slightly fallen out of favour due to the damage nerf on his double-tap passive. His laning is no longer cancer-tier but its still top 5 imo just because of how easy to play he is. Some people build ghostblade on vayne as 2nd item.

Heya! I main adc as well and figure I can give you some insight on why some build paths have changed, and why certain items are strong right now.

Build paths / why did I rush this again? item 3031 vs item 3072 vs item 3153 vs item 3078

item 3153 - is generally rushed on champions that depend on a window of damage or assassination attempt early. Big examples would be Vayne or Twitch . Both of them have ultimates that spike their damage. item 3153 has an active that allows you to more easily keep pace with the person you are fighting and both help your sustain and slightly burst them. This means it favors a short auto attack based conflict, as those rushing Botrk want to finish the fight during Botrk active. Fighting while Botrk or your ultimate is on cooldown is generally unfavorable.

item 3031 - was a rush item for champions that either didn't have great ability scaling with AD or had a way to abuse the passive. So somebody like Caitlyn may rush item 3031 as she does not have great ability scaling so will get a more 'consistent' power spike with the random extra damage from item 3031 passive. Tristana uses her attack speed activate to abuse this passive. Being able to attack faster means have more chances to critically strike someone.

item 3072 - Used to be rushed on champions with really great ability AD scaling. So Draven would rush item 3072 as the 100 damage would stack really well with his Q, which gives him extra damage based on his AD. Graves would use this 100 extra damage to aid his burst potential with his Q + R combo. However, now that item 3072 gives the same damage as item 3031 it has fallen out of favor for rush status. This is because you no longer get more consistent damage with item 3072, you get lifesteal and a shield as tradeoff. The shield is not a very decent size until late game and it is not really worth sinking all of the gold into finishing the recipe for item 3072 to get a small amount of lifesteal. It is more worth it to just get a second item 1055 or item 1053 and get another rush item (most likely item 3031 ). You can always finish the item 3072 later when it will be more effective.

item 3078 - also concerns power spikes. Consistency in power spikes early is pretty strong. Most strong item 3078 rushers have a way to abuse the sheen proc that is built into the items passive. Ezreal and Corki are good examples as mystic shot or rockets can be spammed to trigger the sheen passive at will. This also gives a small amount of crit chance and other stats, that help round out the champion early.

The other notable exception as of late is Kalista . She may rush a item 3153 or item 3085 to abuse her passive. The attack speed allows her to jump more often, allowing her to kite more. As a bonus item 3085 also lets her waveclear and farm faster with her rend ability.

There are other spots where build order matters and where different items may be built, but this is a quick explanation of why some of the item orders have changed.
