Help with Riven please.

Hey, I am a gold V and this thread is to ask the community for help learning how to lane against Riven. I have played this game since late late season 1 and ever since Riven came out, she has continuously destroyed me in lane. I can lane against any other champion in the game successfully, however, Riven has just always been my kryptonite and honestly, she puts me on tilt so hard just by being my lane opponent because I feel helpless against her. I have attempted to play against her counters, learn her and everything, but she still just beats my ass into oblivion (of course I mean players that know the champion. I have beaten her when ppl just try to counter pick me but don't know her). So I would really appreciate some insight into this. THanks.

Bait out her cooldowns. Don't let her zone you. Poke her (she has the worst HP/5). What do you play top?

So general advice never works in this situation. How to play against her is completely champion dependent.

If you were a voli player i would tell you to pressure the lane hard and get the level 2 first, while get a few autos with a W "bite" off. When you hit level 2 all in ignite and finish with a bite. If you do this when she is still level 1 she should die and you can usually then quickly farm and get a chain vest.

I would never tell you to do this as a ryze though.

I would agree its champion dependent, who do you use?

I see rivens alot and i sorta just scoff at these aggressive champs I play mundo alot so really she's got nothing on me... I can farm safely without worrying bout her at all or as Quinn, I can easily out trade Riven spamming AA and vault.

U just gotta know that Riven is gonna be aggressive.. has like 4 actions that can jolt her forward in a direction and if u die to her even once, shes gonna snowball ur ass

Now how you can deal with a mobile aggressive champ is up to who you choose, sometimes you cant do shit at all cuz top laners are partially bout who counters who

Riven follows one big philosophy, ALL IN!!!!

by this I mean shes very much a champ that wants to all in a burst you down as fast as possible. You either have to have a very strong range poke, like Olaf or DrMundo . Or someone who simply can out all in her, like Garen or MasterYi or Shen .

does that mean you have to be one of those champions? Nope, just need to acknowledge her philosophy of ALL IN and know what you can do about it. Are you one who can out poke her or all in her....

oh by the way... YOU CANNOT OUT SUSTAIN A GOOD Riven
