everyone make good points. I'm in gold right now and what I don't see people do that I do as support or in general is:

  • ward properly(especially with that super saiyan 5 buff)
  • learn to deep wards for better control
  • Watch CS. if you're adc is going to miss, go ahead and take it
  • weaken cs for adc when pushing
  • avoid getting hit so you're adc doesn't have to worry about you
  • harass as much as you can, keep the pressure on them so they miss cs/xp
  • ALWAYS be in position
  • ALWAYS time your s**t right
  • ALWAYS clear wards in common spots or if you got time go clear dragon ward
  • do not finish your support item until you at least get a sight stone and upgrade to ruby ASAP by mid game.
  • UNLESS you're having trouble keeping your wards up, get a scanner on you 1st or 2nd b and upgrade asap but not until you get at least sightstone first
  • boots isnt mandatory early game unless you need to dodge or constantly be in position fast
  • SURVIVABILITY > CC/AP items(twin shadows, athene's grail, etc) - sometimes you need to get a mog or sv or even randuin stay alive
  • DO YOUR BEST to scale with team
  • DO YOUR BEST to be a beast
  • DONT BE AFRAID TO KILL SECURE
  • EVEN AS SUPPORT, your role is to also do damage when you can. none of this, "im support im not suppose to get kills or damage". your role is to keep your team IN THE LEAD!
  • Eyes on minimap at least 50% of the time. If I don't need to dodge anything, I just use my peripherals to watch my position while my focus is on the minimap
  • Learn to memorize ward times or keep track of them so you know when to refresh and even buff times to let your jg or your team when its going to be up. As well as enemy skill/spell timers.
  • STAY FOCUSED
  • PLAN AHEAD
  • STAY POSITIVE
  • DO NOT DIE for a feeder or a less than competant adc/teammate. they're feeding, you shouldn't follow their lead.
  • If your partner sucks, START CARRYING. someone has to do it but keep on warding/clear ward ^^
  • STAY ALIVE STAY ALIVE STAY ALIVE. the only time you should die is when youre making a game changing play or saving your streaker. Rarely you have to die to save time. YOUR LIFE > TOWER unless theyre nexus towers.
  • Learn good judgement and what needs to be done. Sometimes you have to be the shot caller.
  • Objective > Kills. Unless you're being contested don't go for objectives like doing baron or dragon while the enemy team is surrounding you. Play Smart.
  • SECURE DRAGON AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

I can't think of anything else but thats my experience and this advice goes for everyone and all roles/champs. some more than others but these are stuff i learn in bronze and i get so mad when people dont even do 25% of this stuff.

So yesterday i was playing lucian and we managed to make the enemy support flash at around minute 3. At minute 6 my lux support catches sona with a snare and uses exhaust too. When asked he said he thought sona might flash away.

Lesson: Keep track of the cd of the opponent's summoner spells to avoid wasting them for no reason

ps: Using exhaust just for the slow is retarded, the op part of it is the damage reduction, although if you are gold im sure you already know this?
