Azir and the Arcane Blade mastery

So, everywhere I read it says that Arcane Blade does not work with his soldiers' auto attacks. But everywhere I look the pros have a point on this mastery. Anyone mind explaining the reason behind this?

PS Sorry if this isnt the right board for this question

Whenever I decide whether to put a point in a mastery or not, I think to myself "What would happen if I could put all 30 points into this mastery?". 30 points into arcane blade = 150% AP bonus damage with auto attacks = 1k damage AAs lategame.

Granted, Azir rarely gets in range to auto attack himself, but it helps with csing a lot. 1 to 2 extra damage early game could mean getting one more creep which would pretty much pay off the mastery point.

I put a point in that mastery regardless of the mage in question because if you are ever OOM or don't have any CDs up, that extra damage can save your life (late game it is usually about 30-40 free on-hit magic damage). it also makes last hitting without spells a lot easier.

Many times people build nashor's on Azir in order to get more damage from his soldiers, and the arcane blade gives your auto's 20% scaling
