A comprehensive case for reporting

I very rarely report anyone but when I do, I seem to get the same response 50% of the time. "Why bother? Nothin'll happen." Well, I'm here to clear this up (and blow off a bit of steam).

So, first off, let me just establish that we're not going into what the offender did. It's all a matter of what you think is worth a report, but let's assume that this person did something awful that you think justifies some kind of punishment, k? Now let's assume that there are two worlds; One in which Riot checks through and follows up on reports, and one where they don't. That means there are two choices and 4 possible outcomes:

  1. You report, Riot cares The offender is punished, you lost 3 seconds of your time
  2. you don't report, Riot cares You gain nothing, and lose the opportunity to improve the community
  3. You report, Riot ignores You gain nothing, and lose 3 seconds of your time
  4. You don't report, Riot ignores You gain nothing, you lose nothing

NOw for all you college educated folk out there, which is the outcome where something positive happens? That's right, Number 1. And what did you do in scenario number 1? Reported!

It's so simple everyone, seriously. Whether Riot cares or not, I can't say (I'd like to assume they do but no one can be sure) but that's not the point. The only way we can improve the community is if we use the tools that are right there in front of us.

Again, I'd like to reiterate that you shouldn't be reporting everyone you see or don't like, I'm just saying if they deserve it, don't think "Oh well what's the point, Riot won't do nuffin"

YOU have to do something before they can do anything.
