Shaco has was my first love in this game and still today he is my favorite champ.
Unfortunately the past few season all the changes to league have been essentially a nerf to shaco, with the item changes, jungle changes and they just plain nerfed him.
That being said he still is and always will be a viable jungler in this game. his ganks should always be fast and often. Shacos greatest asset is movement speen, rushing boots of mobility allows your map presence to be daunting and will always keep the other team wary of where you will pop un next, they are also super useful when the enemy team is warding as it provides you with the speed to deceive from farther away to avoid the wards and still reach them invisible. Also it will always you to more of a split pushing nuisance as you can deceive away and by the time you are visible again you will most likely have procked the boots extra movement speed and you can just run to another lane and keep up the pressure or head straight for the team fight and be able to pick up any weak enemys damaged during the fighting that was hopefully going on while you were away, this is where shaco thrives!
Only use shiv to spike damage or for a last resort slow as when it is off cd your auto attacks will keep the enemy perma slowed, and will allow you to be more aggressive while ganking a lane that has a heavy minion wave in it due to the dodging capabilities.
hydra and static shiv are must buys, with theses and your jungle item that is shacos peak. anything after that is just great but GET THESE ITEMS AS EARLY AS POSSIBE! you push waves super fast, take down towers quickly and they allow you to be that nuisance that is the bane of all enemy teams (and remember movement speed is key so the zeal will only help you that much more). Along with the hydras active to help you burts the squishys the static shiv when is charged.
I personally do not counter jungle as shaco unless I have nothing better to do (which should almost never happen) and then only when it is to steal red or blue anything less is just a waste of time. Instead concentrate on gank after gank, if you are unsuccessful in a gank don't hesitate to loop around and try again in 15 seconds, trust me it will work enough times to make it worth it.
Shaco is not a very good late game team fighter so your goal in the early game is to get every lane rolling hard, do not take the kills if your team has them easily secured (but never hesitate if you have any doubt they could escape) because again you are not a late game fighter. The best you should ever hope for late in a game if you are team fighting is to trade yourself for there heaviest carrying champ, either the adc or apc. But shaco is one of if not the best early game ganker and ganks should be your sole purpose pre 20 minutes. Keep track of there jungler by placing lots of wards in there jungle and counter gank, she shaco surprise at the perfect time will easily secure all the kills that just moments ago were going to be kills for the enemy team.
Never hesitate to ult! a low health clone doesn't help much and many times your opponent will get scared and run away which is exactly what you want since your passive makes everything you do deal extra damage if you attack them from the back.... Also your ult will displace you so you can use it to move around (a very small amount) but if done correctly I have use it to jump the smaller walls in river and even when snared by lux move just enough to dodge her ult! time it right your ult can save your life.. Also it is essential to lean how and when to control your clone, make people think it is you and sometimes that will mean letting the clone do his own thing if you have been successfully controlling him well all game people will think you are the one getting controlled better.. Shaco is a mind game! Have fun with it!
Always remember that shaco is not a good fit whit every team or against every team.. if your team is already squishy he will struggle and if the other team has more than 2 tanky players he will struggle. He is by far my favorite champion and I wish I could play him more but unfortunately he is not always viable.. actually more games than not he will be a poor choice. but remember that people that do not play him do not understand his potential and they will always complain about you picking him, screw them and prove why shaco is an amazing champ!
I hope this was useful, I understand people play champs different but this has been successful for me, just remember speed is your biggest ally and never stop ganking!
oh and P.S. I always rock smite ignite, you are a killer so get those kills. Plus you have a better flash in your Q and a perma slow so flash or exhaust are unnecessary with the kit shaco already has
