Honestly I think more damage and life steal is the way to go... sure you can get a bit more attack range but your meant to go in do tons of damage (:D) and wreck people. now... if you don't wanna get Mercs... (in favor of say Ninja Tabi...) then i suppose this could be a viable option. It's probably something to decide on a case by case basis instead of just a 'general' to do.

Although I don't play Aatrox much, many champion builds are subjective to how the game plays out and with this elixirs may need some thought as well.

Elixir of Wrath should be gone on item builds that you have done recently: item 1055 item 3072 item 3006 item 3074 item 3153 because it allows for that extra bit of damage.

Elixir of Iron should be gone on tankier builds that have shown up on high elo players: item 1054 item 3047 or item 3111 item 3153 item 3143 item 3026 item 3065 etc. for an even tankier champ.

Either one works, just depends on what you like to play and what works for you.

Best of luck on the Rift, Afro

Iron mainly because I prefer to build him tany since usually when you are playing Aatrox, you are going to be the front line.

his main weakness, with all his combat stats being sustain and crit, is he always needs more attack speed, and doesn't do much to towers because of this. Ruin could turn a whole game around with a single push. So could Wraith if you ate is just before a pentakill though.

Sorcery is also not bad, but more for the lols, because 90% of the time it would help, Ruin would be better.

Iron.

Higher attack range + free bruiser-like mayhem? If you built him for damage, making him harder to shut down is a huge advantage.

If you're split-pushing, you might want to have Ruin on hand so you pop it before killing a tower.
