How to Climb Solo Q[How I got to Gold]

Here is my article from the other forums, i've been added and been told that this has been helpful so i decided that i should post this on the boards so others can benefit as well! Keep in mind that i'm only in gold 3 but these "tactics" can easily be applied to any league or division you are trying to get into.

THE CLIMB

About Me

I've been in Silver 3 and silver in general since the start of season 4. I had aspirations of gold and after many many many games of playing and blaming teams I got NOWHERE. I, like many other people in silver or bronze believed we were gold level, but teams were bringing us down! I made a few mindset changes and then in 2 days I went from s2 to Gold V! I realized how easy it was with the right attitude and mindset, and I am here to share with you all the "secret" to getting out

Mindset

Before, I used to go into a game thinking, okay I'm going to play 5 games today and get to Silver 1. Wrong, Wrong, and WRONG! If you play only to "win" you might get lucky once in a while, but if you lose you will be frustrated, go on tilt which might lead to losing streaks. Have you guys experienced going on 10 game winning streaks then losing one, then going on a huge losing spree? That means, for those 10 games you got LUCKY. You probably didn't improve and just cared that you were winning games. So after a very long time I decided that I'm going to only improve myself and that's all! Going into a game, I want you to think of "I am going to get better this game" Every game set a goal, some of my goals were check the mini map constantly and ping out jungler locations etc/call shots. Another was to harass and go for trades when the opponent CSes(I main support). Another was to make sure I am constantly warding the right objectives, and so on, you get the point. I hope at least... Anyways, aim to improve yourself and play consistently every single game. If you do this and improve every game you'll notice that you will improve your consistency and start to generate wins. You may have a few bad games teams or trolls, but if you are playing well all the time, it doesn't matter! For example, I got to my gold series. First game, I DCED, second game I had a troll, third game I had an afk. Before this mindset change I used to flame and just go on tilt and get demoted. Instead, I trusted myself and kept trying to improve, went on a 7 game streak and got myself into Gold!

Attitude

You have all heard this one, but seriously guys, DO NOT FLAME AT ALL! Now, I'm not saying to sugar coat anything, but instead of flaming someone for doing something stupid. Either try to give them constructive criticism or suggest something they should try to avoid the situation. Honestly, before you flame, remember this. What is your Goal? Is it to gain LP? Do you think that by flaming they will magically play better? or worse? Then again, I usually ignore bad plays because All I care is improving myself right? If i am really that good of a support, I should be able to save my adc sometimes, or anyone for that matter! Also, take charge and leadership! In a friendly way though. Ping your team to objectives ping them to go back and do what it takes to get them to listen! However, if your team decided to not listen to you, don't go do baron or whatever it is and flame them for not following. If your team get's engaged on a 4v5 and you could have won the fight had you been there, then YOU are the problem. At the end of the day, STICK WITH YOUR TEAM.

Wrap Up Anyways, you guys can choose to listen, ignore me, or say what you want. But seriously, I used to be one of those people who blamed trolls etc. for being stuck in silver. I PROMISE YOU, if you play consistently at a Gold caliber level all the time, you WILL get to gold, it might take longer with trolls, but you will get there! Any Edits I should make let me know, please refer this guide to anybody struggling to get out of bronze/silver and feel free to add me in game at Chichiboss to let me know if this helped you, let me know of your successes, or if you have any questions! I am not even close to the best player, but I'm just simply trying to share my experience and help others get to Gold!

Have Fun Gaining that LP Summoners!

I just dropped from gold 1 100 LP to gold 3 8 LP in 3 days while being positive, never flaming and always being helpful. I've even been hard carrying several games with wildly positive KDAs and strong objective control until the final 5 minutes where I die in vain trying to fend off 5 fed enemies while the rest of my team is running around like headless chickens, because it seems like the opponents are always taking free towers somewhere, while every tower that we take is a huge uphill battle since ppl actually defend them.

There's games where I've been 6-0 at the time of my first death, which was because I was smite stealing dragon. I've been ganking and snowballing every lane until then yet they're still behind. If I play a carry jungler, I can be 7-1 and they'll still lose because every enemy lane gets fed, and their ADC is Vayne or something and their top is Nasus, Swain or some other late game hard carry. If I play a bruiser or tank jungler, their ADC and support are fed while our mid fails to push with me and win fast. No one listens to jungler strategy, they just want to chase kills or take dragon when we could be taking inhibs and then dragon.

There are some elos that are really "true elo hell". There is absolutely NOTHING you can do to carry some games. It isn't because I'm bad - I was 200 MMR higher than this a few days ago, and the games were equally uncarryable. Elo hell is real.

You get those good and bad days

I dropped 3 divisions in a day with a similar mindset and gained a full tier in a week

No I love this. I am very good about this kind of thing until I hit my promos. That's my downfall. I get more stressed, get worried that hey this guy is fed or we're not doing so hot, we're going to lose, I make a deal out of bad plays.

I think this is why I have to take 6 promos to win one and then climb the LP ladder just fine. >.<

Another I might want to add for this, is knowing and fixing your mistakes. It led me to be a much better top laner as one of my biggest flaw was map awareness.

Then when you play top and support, it gets even worse. You can stomp your lane - nope, jungler is snowballing every other lane against you and bot is losing. The only 2 top laners that can possibly compensate for a weak bot are Riven and Ryze; even a 1000 stack Nasus can get kited late game and do zero damage. Then support. My god. I played with the same guy 2 games in a row - game 1 we lose, fine, he doesnt do anything stupid. Game 2, he gets 1 kill as Draven so he first buys sword of te fking occult and thinks he's god. He thinks he can 2v3 the enemy jungler or mid when they come to gank even though they walk past wards and 3 ppl are pinging him back - nope, feeds, loses stacks, becomes useless. True elo hell.

Then the DCs. My god, the DCs.

{quoted} However, if your team decided to not listen to you, don't go do baron or whatever it is and flame them for not following. If your team get's engaged on a 4v5 and you could have won the fight had you been there, then YOU are the problem. At the end of the day, STICK WITH YOUR TEAM.

Gotta disagree with this point. I have found that in lower elo (silver/gold) your team is constantly doing stupid stuff. Joining up with them instead of split pushing or taking an objective is not the wisest thing to do.

If your team keeps engaging in 4v5 team fights without you, then your team is dumb. Grouping with your dumb team won't help them not be dumb. It will just result in you wasting time dancing with the enemy team, or worse, you get wiped right along with the rest of your team.

Sticking with your team might sound like a smart move, until you realize you're wasting a lot of CS/XP gains by running around as a group. Unless your team pushes objectives immediately, then grouping with them is just killing time.
