How to Lux Support.

First of all, sorry for the misleading title, there is probably some People who clicked this to learn how to support Lux, but this is me asking the Boards how to Lux. I am a Silver III Summoner who joined league during season 4 and I have been playing many different roles...

Three things I learned is that. a.) I cannot jungle b.) I cannot Top against Aatrox ( Damm passive) c.) I cannot Thresh support. (That lantern is harder to throw right than I thought...)

Anyways, sorry for going off topic, but I have been playing the support role ever since I first got Sona. I loved playing support, because it was simple, yet satisfying. I then began to get more and more supports, starting with Janna, and since then I have gotten 5-ish supports. ( I also play adc occasionally, Considering they are similar in roles.) I got Lux long before Sona but I only got here because of the cheap 450 price, and I never really played her until I hit level 28 awhile back. I realized that I played a very good Lux compared to other people of my skill. I have picked up several strategies with playing Lux support but I'm not solid on the "what to get when this happens" situation.

I do have a base down however....

1.) If you are hoping to play an aggro Lux support. Get Spellthief's edge, otherwise get Ancient coin. (If you want to try Relic shield, go ahead, I'm not responsible for the damage it causes.) 2.) Rush towards Chalice, and get Sightstone soon after. (unless their jungle is really on your ass then flip the order) (The mana regen will really help) 3.) It's essential to hit your snare, otherwise you can't get the combo with the slow in the event of a pursuit.(Or a retreat) 4.)Don't be afraid of stealing the kill with your ult if they are getting away 5.) Blitzcrank and Thresh are deadly going against you, you'd be best to play REALLY cautious.

I believe I have done relatively well with these rules, however I noticed that when I entered ranked, It wasn't quite enough. Either my adc was from Cardboard V and doesn't know how to adc, or get's mad at me for stealing ONE kill by accident when they're 6/2/1.....which results in us losing the game......

I have resorted to playing Malphite or Jax top in order to win some games. ( I haven't won with Fiora yet......Both times I played with her they opposite top was Aatrox......stupid passive)

Does anybody have tips for playing Lux as Support? Lux

Try to conserve your q. by this i mean, don't spam your abilities whenever they are on cd. I would definitely go with the coin start. Morg is a long range mage that can make use of spellthief because her pool applies stacks quickly. but Lux cannot do this, so i think coin and a more passive playstyle is best.

My suggestion would actually be to try to play a few games where you do NOT rush chalice. Get used to conserving mana. If you want, buy a item 2041 . but by learning to work without spamming abilities you can spend more money on damage (making your abilities count for more) and you will generally get better at hitting your skill shots (because they will count for more). Spamming is a noob trap that a lot of thresh/blitz players get caught into because they really really want to land as many hooks as possible. But you often end up sending out spells when there really was not a good window of opportunity. Also, by conserving the spell and having it on cd, you keep the enemy psychologically uneasy: they cannot dive you because they know you can lock them up.

Once you have mastered WHEN to send out spells, then maybe you can rush chalice. Or maybe you will decide you don't need it. But the process will make you better at decision making.

EDIT:

Also, don't underestimate her passive. If you do decide to go all in and you start correctly off with a good q, your combo should be Q-AA-E-AA or if post 6, Q-R-send E-AA-E-AA. R will proc the passive from q, so you don't have to AA that one, and then it applies a new passive mark. But this allows you to do the most damage in the least amount of time.

Its alright, i was expecting a thread asking for help on lux support. So heres my lux tips:

  1. Land your skillshots (most obvious one). Lux's presence in lane is dependent on her ability to land skillshots.
  2. Proc your passives every time you land your abilities. This is free dmg that you should capitalize on.
  3. Autoattack the enemy more often. Lux has a range autoattack so she can abuse it.
  4. Use your shield when you're skirmishing and trading with the enemy bot lane and aim it so your partner gets the double shield proc.

number 4 is arguably one of the most important high elo tips i can give you because lux's shield is incredibly strong because it can give twice the amount to allies if you position it properly. (at lvl 1, her W gives a base shield of 80. Thats 160 dmg you can reduce if you land both shields!)
