Is Midlane Invade Still Good?

So I remember in s4 I used to be able to invade junglers red or blue while playing midlane (Learned from FoxDrop). An example is shaco invading their jungler and stealing their buff. Is this still viable? or will the jungler be stronger than you (Yeah some junglers are stronger than the mid lvl 2 and some are not). But overall do you think you could successfully steal their buff and escape safely? I'd like to hear the league community's feedback.

Well as a mid laner it's not too viable. For one thing their jungler will be level 2 when they go to their buff and as a midlaner you will still be only 1 making it extremely risky and if their mid collapses on you then you are probably first blood or forced to flash. On the bright side to the invade, they will generally not have smite for their buff so it could be stolen easily with certain champs. As for stealing the enemy junglers buff as a jungler this is still viable. Generally speaking though the only sure fired way to invade your enemies buff is to start on your own buff vs starting krugs or gromp and then going straight to the enemy buff. Since most people start on their krugs or gromp then you should be done your buff at roughly the same time they are done with their first camp give or take a bit depending on the actual champion in question. Then they will go to their buff and you will either be waiting for them in a bush or get their before they are done.

Normally, no. Mid laners don't really have the jungle sustain to kill a camp unless 1: They have a jungler's help or 2: They bring summoner 11. Bringing Smite and leaving your lane is a pretty good indicator that you want to steal a buff. That leads to another problem: you're leaving your lane, giving up CS and turret HP for a buff that may be useful. It also takes a while to walk to the buffs, especially the blue buff. The routes to it really aren't that direct. In any case, you either have to have vision of the enemy jungle or take a 50/50 guess that the jungler started on the other side. So unless you're playing URF and can spam your spells to make anyone a jungler and are able to Flash in or out with little consequence, no, you don't do this.
