Detailed Guide: How to play Kalista! She's completely different from any other champion. Here's why!

I'll tell you why she's so tricky later, but let's start with basic knowledge.

Alright, so let's first start off with skill order. (This may change with the upcoming patch where Kalista gets a mana return) We max Q>E>W, starting with one point in W if you're laning with a ranged support, E, if you're not. With a BF Sword at level 7, you should be able to clear caster minions with Pierce, and if you line it up, you can clear an entire wave if you put some damage on the melee minions.

The supports Kalista works best with are: Sona/Nami/Lulu, Thresh, Braum, Leona, and Alistar... Of these, I personally like Leona, Sona, and Lulu best. Supports you don't want so much with Kalista are Soraka, Blitzcrank. Those are really your only two, They either put Kalista at risk, or make it difficult to capitalize on her full potential, especially with ultimate.

Build Path: I personally like to rush one of two items: Infinity Edge, or Iceborn Gauntlet. (Of which I prefer Infinity Edge, but IG can have it's use cases.)

Generally, when I build IE's Path: I end up with item 3031 item 3006 item 3072 item 3087 item 3035 item 3139 Start off with a Doran's usually. Work on getting as your first two purchases, a Vampiric Scepter, and a BF Sword. From there, Work on building I.E> Stattik Shyv. Once you have Shyv and IE, It can make it much easier to clear entire waves due to the shyv proc.

With Iceborn's Path: I usually end up going back to IE, I haven't experimented much with this path yet, but at full build, instead of mercurial scimitar, you end up with gauntlet. Remember, building is based on the game's needs, so you may need a veil instead of a QSS. ALRIGHT FINALLY! Let's get to gameplay, and why she's so different.

So, when we enter game, we're going to go into settings. Go to Hotkeys>Player Movement> and find Player Attack Move click . Set that to a key you'll be able to use. This is what we will be using for our hop. One of the reasons Kalista feels so awkward, is because she is! This helps alleviate it, and will take some getting used to. You'll want to be using X(What I preset my Attack Move Click to) to hop, and your standard attack for targeting. "Player attack Move Click" will make it so that she has an easier time finding a target she had already been after when hopping. The biggest issue I noticed with Kalista, is that I would hop, and then I would change targets, and end up attacking a minion. This makes it so that you will no longer switch targets as long as that target is visible, you will attempt to run back and attack that target after hopping.

I will now take questions, and answer anything I see, Thanks in advance, and I wish you the best on the fields of justice.

With a BF Sword at level 7

Uh, how? She's impossible to farm with.

Have you tried rushing item 3006 then item 3031 max E start

That seems to be the strongest build path for laning that I've tried, and still gives you a super strong late game build.

Sorry, but this item's name is "Statikk Shiv", not "Shyv". Shyv means Shyvana, and I misunderstood this sentence "Once you have Shyvana and IE, It can make it much easier to clear entire waves due to the Shyvana's W."

Awesome guide tho. GJ
