I was a gold 5 player and was bumped back to s2 for the new season, as was everyone.

I practice this game easily 50hours a week every week for almost a year now and simply can not get out, iv done everything every high level person has said, i have the right attitude i treat others nicely i don't rage (with the exception of a few bad days) i practice farming i listen to tutorials iv done absolutely everything i possible can to get better in any way shape or form, i have easily put in more effort into this than anyone i have ever met and still can not get better and i simply do not know what i should do, i am really really trying but cant get higher up into plat or diamond, i even take notes during pro games and study them like a test. I have memorized every champ, what they do, what positions they play, what there powers do, and how to play them. What else am i supposed to do to improve, i don't know any one else working this hard and they are way higher rank then i am

A couple of things...one...you should listen to very very carefully...the second one...you might not want to hear but is ultimately true.

The first one...and I cannot stress this enough..."I've" has an "E" on the end of it.

The second one...everyone has a ceiling...and you shouldn't let that discourage you from trying to be the best player you can be...but you need to keep that in the back of your mind. You made it into Gold last season...that's awesome man....kind of like Chad's name. You were gold 5..you need to sit down, take a few breaths...and really, really think about what that means.

66% of the people who play competitively...aka ranked....are in Silver 1 and lower. That means you were in the top 34%. You get to Plat 5....and you're in the frickin' top 10 percent. I don't know where people seem to think that if you're not plat or diamond you're trash...because that's just not true. You'll even hear pros saying below Diamond is trash on occasion...you know what....they're salty and full of frickin' crap.

Reach down and lace up your damn boots and get your ass back to Gold because deep down you know you can do it as you did it before. 50% of the players are Silver 3 and lower...so you're already doing better than half the population that plays this game. Ultimately though...Gold might be your ceiling...and you know what...that's awesome in and of itself. When 2/3 of the player base wishes they were you...you should sit back and be proud of your accomplishments. You also have to realize...that it's hard to notice small improvements...and those small improvements DO make a difference. But it's things that won't surface until literally 1-200 games down the line because they're gradual. Next thing you know...you're possibly back in Gold 5...then 4...then 3...then who knows. But when push comes to shove...don't let that define who you are as a player...and be proud of where you are and how you got there.

If you're not improving despite playing alot and getting advice from other players, then there is a problem with your mentality. If you're doing something wrong and you're not noticing it or you're too stubborn to change it, then it will hinder your ability to improve.

this is speculation, you may know better then i do

Your runes are kind of heavy on the defensive side, which i guess is fine a lot of the time, but you do still need some damage... especially on adc / mid

I would guess that you dont take to many turrets or focus on objectives enough, i cant really tell that from lolking though so...

other then that i have no idea. wish i had your work ethic though... i struggle to figure out what the masteries even do :P

This game is constantly changing, memorizing is a fool's endeavor. As a rule of thumb, never underestimate how much damage your enemies do, but at the same time consider the reward of taking risks.

mu advice, it to rewatch your games especially where you die. Every death is a mistake, look at what lead to your mistake and try to fix that for next time

There are numerous things you can do to better yourself as a league player.

  1. Mentality: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HERE, if you don't have a good mentality you won't learn nearly as much as to way you lost lane or lost game 2)* Guides*: By guides I mean youtube guides(fourpaws, etc.) and other higher players on youtube and other such websites that will give you loads of things that can help you.
  2. Main a role/champ: By maining role and a champion you have a much better chance of winning a game if you get said role and champ (which you will get quite often unless said champion is currently #1 on ban list). By maining a champion and a role you will learn all of their tricks and finely tune your skills in the game (by playing a champion a lot you will figure out the best way with dealing with their counters for instance). Note this really comes in handy when you're first pick because more than likely you WILL get countered in your role so knowing how to deal with it will help a lot.
  3. Map Awareness: this is crucial, if you have bad map awareness just set a timer to do a quick ding (hearable but not annoying) every 6-7 sec so that you get reminded hey I need to check for potential incoming ganks
  4. CS: set a goal in cs and try to get it, not much more i can think of for that
  5. Wards: having the best awareness in the world won't help you if a jungler pulls off a solid gank on you and you didn't have any wards to see it coming. Note that you should almost always have a ward (except for first buy) and the yellow trinket does not count as a ward. The yellow trinket is nice protection but you will STILL NEED WARDS

So yeah just this is a pretty standard set of procedures most gold players gotta do if they want plat or above

PS. memorizing the rough timings of abilities is GREAT to know but takes forever, and there is probably tons of grammer errors in my post
